I went to Extreme pizza on July 29th, never had a problem with them, I ordered cilantro on my pizza they didn't put it on. I walked back to Extreme, OMG, I saw the cashier work the register and didn't WASH his "filthy" hands and proceeded to put cilantro on my pizza. I guess he thought I wasn't watching him , very unsanitary!! They seriously needs training in handling food and washing their " filthy" hands. You never ever do this, sanitation is everything. I won't return or refer anybody that I care about, to eat at a place that doesn't care about cleanness!!!!!

White pizza with walnuts...big fail, but maybe if hot! Hotel delivery, cold. Joint 5 blocks away...no warmer... First bad pizza in SF since '79... Extremely meh

I've had a terrible experience at Extreme -- they failed me in a big way. 6/6/15 12:53pm, placed online for nine pizzas in the amount of $382.26 for scheduled 5:30pm delivery to my home, to feed 27 family members, including a number of senior citizens, before heading out at 7:30p to an 8:00p theater performance. 6/6/15 12:59pm, $382.26 was charged to my VISA. 6/6/15 6:00pm, as the delivery was 30 minutes late (and five hours after they were ordered), I called the store and was told by a female employee that the nine pizzas were just coming out of the over and would leave as the next delivery. 6/7/15 7:00p, as the delivery was now 90 minutes late (and six hours hours after they were ordered) I called the store and was told by a male employee that the pizzas were not yet made. He yelled at me and told me they were busy and nothing could be done. He said its possible he could deliver the pizzas in 90 minutes by 8:30p. My 27 guests, including senior citizens, were suddenly without food before having to attend a three-hour theatre performance. I had no alternative but to move into crisis mode and find these people food within minutes. Why did this happen? The store offered no apology and has not refunded the $382.26. An advanced order is a contract to perform. Extreme failed me. If you must have their pizza -- go there.

I wanted to try a new pizza place. Extreme pizza's menu looked appealing, so the roommate and I decided to order delivery thru delivery.com . January 2014 *Railroad grade signature pizza (Medium - 12", Classic crust) $18.95 yelp.com/biz_photos/extr… *Mr pesto head signature pizza (Indee - 8", Wheat crust) $8.15 yelp.com/biz_photos/extr… *Boneless chicken wings (1/2 dozen, Spicy buffalo) $5.25 yelp.com/biz_photos/extr… *Chicken caesar salad ($9.75) yelp.com/biz_photos/extr… The railroad grade was delish. Came with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. It all went very well together. I didn't care for the pesto pizza. It came with sliced potatoes which were not fully cooked. Added a starchiness and texture I didn't care for. The rest of the dishes were pretty average. In all, I'd recommend the railroad grade, but I'd stay away from pesto potato pizza.

Pizza is good - took the paia pie (Hawaiian). But what's that price?!? It's just pizza, doesn't deserve to pay 30bucks for it. I would have gone some place else if I knew how much it would cost. The menu (and price) on Google maps is misleading.

Service is on the level of Neanderthals - no no we don't know , we don't do it, you are asking for too much... All I asked was to scoop the bread - take the soft part out. Wow too much for these guys :)) Food is ok, place is dirty, never again...

Tried this place out before going to the club Origin which is just a couple blocks away. Pizza took about 5-7 minutes to get done after my friends and I each ordered a slice, wasn't too busy but they only have about 4 or 5 tables in this place so there isn't much moving room when other people start coming in and trying to wait in line to order. We ordered a Veggie slice, Hawaiian and a Pepperoni slice. This is all thin crust pizza and had a decent amount of each topping. I have had plenty of other pizza that was far better than this place, I'm not saying it's bad, just had better. They have a bunch of things on the menu so maybe I just need to go back and try out other things. Pizza was extremely hot when it arrived. I had to wait about 4 minutes before I could take a bite without burning my mouth while chewing.

We found this place by accident, we were just walking by and noticed there was a pizza place serving vegan pizza, so I had to stop! Pizza was great, their pizza chips wit hummus was also great. Staff is friendly, would go back if I lived in the area.

Extreme Pizza ROX! With just minutes to go before my evening class, I ordered a slice of "Railroad Grade" to go. My favorite. Under $7. It turned out there were 2 slices in the box! I 'm doing flips, just like the guys in the pictures.

Quality and value have really taken a dive here at what used to be a ~ staple pizza goto of mine probably about once ever 3 weeks or so. Prices are up, there is less 'ingredients' and by that I mean if you e/g/order a chicken pizza, there's less chicken, and more 'cheese drizzle'. ' Service' has gone 'ghetto', stubbornly and slow... Sayonara.

  • Mitch T.

Wow! The staff and food Is amazing here! My first time here I got a couple of slices that Carlos suggested and he hasn't let me down since! Now I come here 2-3 time a week. Nice place to catch the game. Beer and pizza, how could you go wrong right? My favorite is definitely the railroad grande. Close second, Hanoi fever. And the hot thai boneless wings.. to die for! Do your self a favor and try this spot. Ask for carlos! He has all the answers here

Got to wait ~1.5 hours for the delivery, and they ignored my request to remove the cilantro. Mmmh, soap pizza! As others have noted recently - AVOID.

Spicy sauce, crispy crust; solid pizza but very overpriced by the slice ($5 cheese). Won't be coming back.

If I had a money tree and this was the last pizza place on earth, I still wouldn't eat it. Over priced, awful pizza! I have eaten better tombstone store bought pizza. The employees were talking about how much money they were going to make tonight, while my horrible horrible tasting pizza sit ready out of the oven. If the food is good the service and suck a little, but you can't have both the service and the food suck. Skip this place! Go to Little Star Pizza on Divis! THE BEST!

This is my go to pizza place for delivery. Best specialty pizza EVER. I love the Kickin' Chicken Thai pizza...loaded with a generous amount of chicken and just the right amount of spiciness. Perfect crust thickness...thin. Arrives quickly & piping hot. Super friendly staff...you can't go wrong with Extreme Pizza. Other favorite "The Everest" :-)

You can't get wrong with pepperoni pizza, beer, and nice TV show to watch. I ordered a pick up, they were on time. Pepperoni pizza was good as all pepperoni pizzas are good unless you don't know how to make basic pizza. So I can't review about their menus. But they were nice. Cleaned the table for customers when it's dirty, even though you don't expect that much service from a restaurant in the corner of the street. But still, it's always nice to see well maintained place. If you want a quick goto pizza, this is the place. You are not gonna get Italian cuisine here, but you will get a pizza and nice drinks.

This place has definitely gotten worse. It took a while to get my veggie pizza slice. And the guy forgot to give me a cup for my fountain soda while I was waiting. It was a very bland veggie pizza - I drowned it in all the condiments, and it was still bland. And it left me hungry. They make it look like you're getting a lot - the one slice was cut to look like two slices - but the crust is very thin, and the toppings are meager. It was $8.35 for tiny, unsatisfying lunch. Pros: Cashier greets customer energetically Cons: Poor value, not filling enough, very bland veggie pizza, slow service, mediocre selection of drinks, chilly, uncomfortable seating and atmosphere

Waited 2 hours for a delivery and then canceled. Totally unacceptable. They said the driver got robbed, but who knows if that was true.

The first time I came to this location I was a little disappointed with the cashier's attitude, one of those types that didn't seem to want to be there. I've been in there a couple times since and ordered for delivery several times and things have been much better except the deliver guy never comes up to our apartment even when I've specified to dial a certain # at the call box. AMAZING pizza, very consistent. Plentiful toppings, tasty sauces, always sliced perfectly.

Extremely delicious pizza... Extremely nice staff... Extremely fast service... I'm extremely in love with this place... My favorite pizza place in the city. I will definitely keep coming here :) Thank you Extreme Pizza

  • Bonnie G.

I love this pizza. It's delicious as hell. But why does it take TWO HOURS to make and deliver a personal pizza? Sure, I've never worked at a pizza place before, but I can't imagine why on a Tuesday night they're conducting a complex, long winded pizza opus and mailing it to me via USPS. Maybe I'm just upset because I'm pregnant and ravenously hungry and OH YEAH their site says "average delivery time is 45 minutes." This is not the first time, either. I guess it wouldn't be so disappointing if the pizza wasn't good. But it is.

5 stars for food 2 stars for delivery speed 5 stars for delivery guy ;) 3 stars for the price Placed an order over eat24 hours. It did not come for one hour ! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Come on ! I live only 4 mins drive away from this place ! I was actually soooo mad that I was not even going to tip the guy ... but darn .. the guy was pretty cute hahaha so I tipped the guy 15% or whatever and took pizza to my living room with some smile :D ! The food was pretty good. I loved the flavors and amount of toppings. The wings were really good, too. I think I am going to order the same thing again (Original Buffalo Wings & Yard Sale Pizza (Medium 12")).

My go to place for an indee yard sale pizza! Love that it's walking distance from the house. Pizza is always hot with fresh ingredients!

This is one of our reliable choices for pizza delivery. Usually home, though we once catered a birthday party at Alamo square using them and it all arrived just fine. Love the paia pie. If I had one complaint, I'd have to echo the price - it can add up pretty quickly for a simple pizza, but quality has always been excellent in our experience and pizza delivery reliable.,

Ordered through Grub Hub Sunday night at the Kabuki Hotel after a Taj Mahal concert- The pizza came pretty quick and was HOT and TASTY- a mountain of ingredients- got the Yard Sale- really hit the spot!!!

Their calzones ROCK! Super filling and usually enough to carry over into the next day to make great left overs.

  • Wesley W.

Ordered using Grubhub.com for pick up...got to the restaurant and they didn't have my order. They took my order again and then when they were giving me my order they forgot a part of it.....common sense says since you messed up you deliver the missing part to me. They would not do that and since I ordered from Grubhub it required extra steps to get refund and ultimately I wanted the missing food. Not a good experience....I will take my business elsewhere.

There really isn't anything extreme about this pizza unless you want to count the heartburn you get after it. It's good, it's a tad expensive, and the cookies taste weird to me. I love chewy chocolate chip cookies, why are you ruining this!? They have beer though. It's nice because my therapy is nearby and I get to go into sessions with a slight buzz on so the fact that I'm still making the same mistakes after five years worth of therapy doesn't weigh so heavily on my conscience.

Thought it was time for an update. On the positive side, I was contacted by the manager of the place. She apologized and said she would send me a coupon to try them again. Guess what, never got it. Just so you are aware, if you set an expectation for a customer, follow through. No worries, there are better places to go. BTW, the Mill Valley location is not much better. They completely forgot about our order. Go to Roccos. Much better.

    (1)
  • Courtney B.

Horrible service. 1 hr 45 min for delivery?? Pizza was cold after being in the car that long. We requested a discount due to long delivery time. Manager offered a coupon for a free pizza which would be sent in the mail. Not counting on it arriving.

If u want bad delivery service and if u want to eat what u did not order than this place is the best for u!! The first time we ordered from here we got the wrong pizza! My husband was kind enough to accept the delivery and the wrong pizza because we didn't want to wait for another hour to get a new pizza! The second time we ordered for delivery there was a mistake in the calculation and AGAIN we were kind enough to not even mention that!!! We made an order today and again we got our pizza missing basil and the wings was missing the ranch! Can u eat wings without dipping?! The sad thing about that is when my husband called them to complain the general manager told him that he made the pizza and he put basil!! Come on!! We have the pizza!! And its without basil!! And when my husband told him do u want me to send u a picture?! The manager was like " well we r closed ! If u want we will come to take the order and get u ur money back!! So sad that we gave them three chances and they did not even care!!

It's a little odd, I realize, to give a 5-star review to a pizza place that gave me a stomach ache, but it was a self-inflicted wound. Their gluten-free pizza rocks. It rocks so much I ate too much of it when I had one delivered, with pepperoni and basil on top. They showed up within the 40 minute window they promised and it was a Saturday night. And, yes, I had cold pizza for breakfast the next day.

  • Carol W.

Their pizza is very good, so I decided to try the Extremely Twisted Sticks. They are delicious, and have just the right balance of cheese, garlic and bread. I chose tomato sauce on the side. I think they also offer ranch sauce. The service was great. A friendly man at the counter balanced taking orders, assisting Moms with little kids in addition to packing orders. It is a small location, and for one worker it's busy. I went at lunchtime, and received my food quickly. Good experience! After I wrote the review, I received this message: Carol- We greatly appreciate the kind comments. I forwarded them on to our management staff at our Fillmore St. location. We look forward to serving you again soon. -Scott Walker Corporate Extreme Team Great customer service!

After being alive 4.5 decades...somehow I'm now gluten intolerant, and ALL my favorite foods are off limits anymore, so I saw they had a GF crust and thought, what the hell. I was not a fan of the customer service--the cashier just barks at you about there being a "by the slice" menu behind you, and what I wanted was a whole pie. The menu says there's an extra charge for GF crust, but we got a 12" pizza and two little bottles of crystal geyser water, and it amounted to over $30. To their credit, though, the pizza was pretty tasty, and was actually more like a thin crust 16" pizza so I was ok with it. I made sure to smile at him and thank him, hopefully making him a little nicer to his clients--I realize it's a tough job, I worked with the public for many years and it's what you have to do when you're in your twenties, sometimes 30s and beyond, but try to remember that the customers aren't all DICKS, ok dude?

I've had a couple of bad experiences with these guys now (fool me once, etc.). Latest (and last) one: I ordered on a run of the mill Tuesday night and was told there would be a 45-60 minute wait. At an hour and 15 minutes I received a message from them saying my pizza would be another 15-30 minutes. I called back immediately and the guy who answered was pretty rude, had no record of me or my order and was generally not very good at his job. Finally got put through to the manager who admittedly was apologetic but unable to offer much of an explanation as to why they failed so miserably to deliver on what they promised. He did assure me that my pizza would be there any minute. The pizza showed up (total time 1.5 hours) and tasted like it had been made a long time ago and sat waiting for delivery: dried out with a cardboard like taste and texture. Don't bother. The pizza and price is a long way from what's required to justify this kind of service.

Extreme pizza hits the spot with unique pizzas and a fair beer selection. The beer selection is improving which provides a good surprise for selecting beer.

Super Bowl is over and we don't have our order in yet. Big disappointment. I have been a patron and ordered from this location for the past 4 years. The lady who took our order was incompetent and rude and messed up by sending it to the wrong location even after we double checked and verified our address . They put our order on the house but what's the point now.

extreme pizza gave me the extreme runs. shoulda went to burger king across the street. 6 bucks for a slice when i coulda got a burger fries and drink and no diarrhea. friendly service though.

  • Jim R.

Until last night it had been four months since I patronized Extreme Pizza. My review from my last visit was that the pizza wasn't bad, but they were extremely expensive, extremely slow, and had an extremely rude staff. After four months of avoiding Extreme Pizza I decided last night to give them another try. We order four pizzas for a cost of nearly $170! And it took nearly two hours for the delivery to arrive (even though they said 45 minutes when the order was entered)! They didn't call to say they were running late. They didn't offer any discounts or free coupons. They didn't even seem to feel sorry. So unfortunately I have to affirm my prior review, but this time with more emphasis. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! EXTREMELY SLOW! The staff wasn't exactly rude, so instead I'll say EXTREMELY APATHETIC! Save your money, avoid frustration, and try another place!

  • Tamsen S.

forgot part of my order and told me they were really backed up so they couldn't fix it and offered to give me something extra next time. I didn't want something extra next time (probably won't be a next time) and instead of offering I had to insist that I not pay for I what I didn't get this time. the pizzas not even that good to put up with mistakes and unapologetic managers.

Decent pizza for not so decent prices. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about.

Every time I ordered extra cheese with my pizza but they have never given extra cheese. Today I made sure them to put extra cheese but they didn't, so I am not going to order pizza there anymore.

My husband and I ordered one pizza for delivery at 2:40pm on a Saturday. Once the one hour mark rolled around and our pizza had yet to arrive, I gave the restaurant a call to ask about the status. The guy on the phone apologized and said that they were backed up and that the delivery would arrive within the next 5-10 minutes. Okay, fine. I can wait a few more minutes I suppose. However, it didn't arrive until 30 minutes later. Really? An hour and a half to deliver a pizza? Sadface. The pizza was decent (we ordered the Railroad Grade), but absolutely not worth the wait. I won't be ordering from here again!

  • Curtis M.

Good value for a huge slice (technically 2, since they cut down the middle) and a soda. I know its a chain but all the local places around here only do full pies and I only want a simple slice. For a slice place, it is very clean and easy going. None of the hustle atmosphere of Escape from New York. Finally the pizza is tasty... Seasoned and not generic tasting.

    (4)
  • Kevin B.

I know this place is technically a chain, but it's a good one (and they're local). Is it the best pizza in SF? No. But Extreme Pizza has always served reliably delicious food for pick-up and delivery. Plus, their Fillmore Street location is right near my house. I can't tell you the number of times a slice of their pepperoni has saved me from a next-day hangover. The slices here are incredibly generous (compared to places like Orgasmica or Dino's). One slice is essentially the size of two slices (and under 5 bucks). A side of ranch costs like 50 cents more. Though lately, I feel like their ranch isn't as good as it used to be. I believe that behind every good pizza is a good sauce. And Extreme Pizza definitely has its own unique, tangy (and tasty) sauce. It blends well with the melted cheese and crust. They have other offerings on the menu, including monster subs, calzones, salads, and chicken wings. But I mostly stick with the pizza.

They were swamped on new year's day and took a really long time with our Eat24 order. After calling, they came 15 minutes later and gave us half off of our order. That was great customer service, so you get 1 more star.

    (4)
  • Susan R.

Looking for a snack after the Giants game, and this fit the bill. A couple of Railroad Grade slices, hot from the oven, and we were on our way. Good selection of beers, okay selection of sodas, a place to sit, and open late. That'll do.

    (3)
  • Shannon S.

The only reason we ate here is because they had a parking spot available, so that's really the only plus to this place. The pizza is edible but there's got to be better places out there. They have a couple tables so they have got that going for them. we bought a cookie that was great so two stars for the cookie. If it were the last pizza on earth sure I would eat it again but that would be the only other time

  • Alex W.

Awesome little place. Working in SF and needed some fuel for my body. Stopped in and ordered two slices. They are made fresh. Only complaint is price. I ordered a whole pizza the other night for less. Was nice to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather.

Update: The pizza is better than "ok". It's great! My brother was visiting from Tucson and this was the first place he wanted to go to. Great pizza, an always interesting beer selection, and still, very friendly service.

  • Lisa N.

This places makes fresh pizza. The toppings are okay and the outcome of the pizza is just okay. It's nothing special that makes me want to come back. We got our XL pizza pretty quick though. It's a very tight place to eat comfortably. I paid $40 for the XL pizza one soda and a caesar salad.

  • Marco L.

Delivery time said it would take 45-60 minutes. Instead it took 2 hours. The manager called me on the phone explaining that the pizza order was incorrectly made the first time and it would take them more time to make the new one. He also told me that he'd throw in a complimentary cheesecake for the error. At that point I just wanted my food. As soon as my order arrived there was no cheesecake as promised and the pizza I got was missing a topping I asked for. The pizza was tasty otherwise, but I found the wait and the service to be unprofessional. Would not recommend this Extreme Pizza.

    (2)
  • Jade F.

This pizza is pretty boring, but I'd eat it if it was in front of me and I didn't have to pay for it. Then again, I'd eat most things that were right in front of me that I didn't have to pay for. That pretty much sums it up!

    (2)
  • Jessica L.

A dreadful lack of hustle happening here: pizza maker was lumbering around on the phone for 30 of the 40 minutes that I sat waiting for my order. His helper couldn't stop yawning on the food. Cashier stood motionless staring at computer screen in between the infrequent calls and walk-ins. I had to rouse her from her waking slumber to ask about the status of my teeny tiny pizza. After asking one of the four people behind the teeny tiny counter, she pulled it from the top of the oven where it had been sitting for who knows how long. I hadn't eaten all day, so I did manage to enjoy said cold pizza.

There pizza is good. But they should rehire better stafg i was waiting for five mins once i walked in a girl is jus standing at the cashier lookin not helping.. then had another guy help me like wtf.. that girl couldn't do her job n looked like she had a ugly attitude.. other than that live there pizza

Extreme Pizza extremely helped me on my road to recovery after a nominated hangover had put pause on my holiday in SF. I'll be honest, the only real reason why I ordered from here was because they delivered to our hotel, and I was much in that 'dont let the light hit any part of my eyes' phase, so was very keen to stay indoors. Before no time a knock on the door and our pizza subs and buffalo wings had arrived. Holy shitballs...I didnt think I would have much of an appetite but the meal held up to be an awesome feast. So awesome that I decided to do it all over the next day, minus the dreaded hangover feeling. Still as good as the first time though. Thanks to my Extreme experience, I have had the constant cravings for the wings and ranch sauce void that I cant seem to fill here in Australia *insert sad face*... oh well.

I'm a huge fan of extreme sports but not so much Extreme Pizza although I've dined at the Folsom Street location several times due to its close proximity to my work. I had a very early dinner that night and hunger crept in as I explored night life in the Fillmore. Although I had never eaten at this location their familiar logo brought me in, and I knew one of their "Indee" sized pizzas would be perfect for soaking up a bit of the free-flowing alcohol in my system. I ordered an 8 inch Everest at the counter and took a seat at one of the tables. The Everest consists of pepperoni, salami, sausage and beef meatballs. The guy behind the counter told me they were out of meatballs and whether I wanted a double portion of another topping. I think I asked for more sausage. The television was on inside and the news was playing. I watch very little television and rarely do I watch the news so my eyes wandered around this small place instead. I closed my eyes to take a rest, and I think I started to snooze when my pizza ( yelp.com/biz_photos/ZatX… ) was brought over to me. It sure didn't look like a double portion of sausage though. I really didn't care. I ate it up. It was good. The sausage didn't stick to the cheese and would roll off onto the plate when I took a bite, but I guess that's why they gave me a plate. That little pizza did the trick in calming my stomach for the long Muni ride home. Not bad, not great but this Extreme Pizza was dependable when I needed it most.

This place is great. I'm picky about pizza. Like, really picky. I normally order Amici's but their delivery minimum to get to the Richmond is a bit out of control so the other night I did a bit of Grub Hub roulette. The BBQ pork pizza is amazing. I seriously regret not ordering a bigger size so I could have leftovers this week for lunch. Delivery was prompt. Delivery girl was super sweet. Pizza was hot. Soda was cold. The only meeeeh thing was that the boneless wings tasted like chicken nuggets from a microwave. It's a pizza place though, right? Cut them some slack.

Staff were friendly enough. Restaurant very clean and had ample seating. Seating was ample because there were few other customers in there, and here's why: $6.50 for an average slice of pizza and a Dr. Pepper is pricey. The quality of the pizza can be just as easily found by popping a Tony's pizza in the oven at home. I've had better pizza at Costco.

This place used to be so good (before it was a "mini chain") when there was only 1 or 2 of these and the original owners ran it (2 hippy snow-board dudes). They really loved their jobs and you could tell they were all about making quality pizzas. Now it is just a blah chain, with bored workers who don't even bother to fill the napkin holders even when you tell them 2 of them are empty. They leave the door open all the way in the middle of winter so you cannot enjoy eating in b/c it is so cold in there. The salads are all pre-made and refrigerated. There is no music just a TV playing sports with closed captioning (no sound) The tables seem dirty. I guess I will never go back. Dino's up the street has a decent slice for 1/2 the price, and happy workers in a cozy environment.

So at around 6 o'clock, I IM'ed my husby asking about ordering dinner for tonight. I was thinking I could order before he left work, so the food would get here in time for us to quickly eat together before our baby's bedtime. He says he's in the mood for Extreme Pizza, which we haven't had in a while, so I place my order at 6:12pm. I think you know where this is going. Husband gets home at around 6:45pm, and we revel in our son's ability to sit up unsupported. 7pm rolls around, and husband asks, "When's the food getting here?" I answer, "Should be around now." Then it's 7:15pm. Time to start the baby's bedtime routine. Then it's 7:35pm. Husby decides to call and follow up on the order. He's greeted by the recording and is left waiting on hold with no answer. At 7:45pm, husband decides that we're going to order from someplace else, because we can't even be sure the online order went through to the restaurant. Almost 2 hours from placing the order, at 8:04pm, the deliver person finally appears. But at this point we'd already ordered elsewhere. So husband says, "We don't want the pizza anymore." Driver responds, "You don't want the pizza anymore?" "No. You came too late." Normally, we would have taken the food and just let the extreme (ha!) lateness go as a fluke. But this is the second time our order took 2 hours -- at least the first time we were able to get a hold of someone at the restaurant, who confirmed our food (albeit late) was en route. Starve me once, same on you. Starve me twice, you get a one-star review.

Great service. Took care of an obnoxious, drunk costumer that was being rude to my party. Quick and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Very good pizza. Loved the Aveiro pizza. First time here and service was good and pizza hot .

Three stars for actually serving food past 10pm, and having beer on draft. Two stars if I was only reviewing the pizza. The crust is crappy--tastes like the cardboardy stuff that you can buy to make your own pizzas at home, and they use some very yellow cheese... is that cheddar!? Yikes. And yet it manages to be somewhat flavorless. Load up on the garlic powder, oregano and red pepper flakes. Still, bonus points for small pies, slices, and the ability to add one-off toppings to your slices.

The exact same crust as a store bought thin crust frozen pizza. Seriously. The exact same

I've eaten here twice now and have had great service both times. The second time, they were out of slices to offered me an 8" for the price of a slice. I didn't even ask, they offered. The cheese pizza is good and the portions are generous.

Let's be honest...this is not the best pizza in SF. Ok, it isn't even the top 15 of "best" pizzas in SF but it is fantastic as delivery on those days you don't want to leave your house and don't have the energy to cook. It also has the plus of late night delivery! I highly recommend the jalapeno and pineapple pizza. Yummy!

So far this place is the closest to NYC pizza. The crust is thin yet crispy and the pizza has the "brick" oven taste I love.

Been in a few times - and while it's not the greatest pizza it gets the job done. Overall, I usually get "The Pipe" Calzone which is quite tasty filled with ricotta cheese, sauce and a few other items. Otherwise, every slice is made fresh when you order - which can take a little longer than neighborhood pizzeria's where they have numerous pies pre-made. As for the pies - I haven't tried them all of the speciality ones yet - but I enjoy the pepperoni one particularly. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

I ordered online it said delivery in 45 minutes. When I called at 1 hour they said 10 minutes. When I called 15 min later they said 15 more minutes but after waiting it still had not come and I called again. After waiting 5 more minutes I canceled. I had to go out and get food.

tried pizza orgasmica, too pricey and they forgot a pizza and still made me pay for it. tried north beach, but the delivery people are exceptionally rude and the pizza not that good. tried extreme pizza and finally found decent pizza, polite and hot delivery folks. the arrives at the promised time, piping hot. there is also a large variety on their menu with tons of flavor combos that you would never think to eat together. i like that i also get free coupons in the mail.

I like this pizza. It's pretty good and goes down well with the correct choice of beer. Too bad it's number one downfall is that it isn't top quality, but still I eat it. If you can, order Pizza Orgasmica instead.

    (3)
  • Albert B.

Extreme offers classic California pizza: lots of toppings, heavy on the veggies. The price is in the same range as Escape from New York and Pizza Orgasmica. They have similar quality but more original pizzas than Escape and less odd ones and larger ones than Pizza Orgasmica. My favorites are the Railroad Grade and the Drag it Thru the Garden. Railroad Grade is for those who like the kitchen sink of both meat and veggies. Drag it Thru the Garden is exactly what it sounds like...it's one of the best pizzas for both the day of, but also the next day, as the cold veggies are unbelievable reheated or just cold. Their twisted breadsticks are also pretty amazing. Quantities are impressive for the price. I haven't had the salads or wings, but imagine given Extreme's emphasis on quality, that those are good too. Enjoy.

I've never ordered delivery from Extreme pizza but I will sometimes stop in for their lunch special when I'm at work. You get a slice with two toppings, a salad, and a drink for around $6. It's a pretty good deal because the slices are huge, made fresh, and have tons of toppings....I love tons of toppings and the drinks are refillable (yay!). They are quick too so you can get a filling meal in about 5 min which you can eat outside on their picnic tables or inside while watching ESPN 2.

Ummm, this is one of those places you stop at towards the end of your bar crawl with the boys and fill your stomachs with grease and cheese... Not bad when you're drinking, but probably wouldn't go here if I wasn't.

I got take out at this place and they had this walnut pizza with 5 different cheezes. Man, it was so good. So dayam good. I crave it on cold nights like these when I just want to sit on my bed with the tv on and eat a slice of pizza. Great pizza. I haven't tried anything else, but so far it is good. Heard the owner was Brasilian. Another plus. GO BRASIL!!! Yes, I'm a Carioca. Hey, I've got pride. HAHAHA

Ordered two pies just yesterday for the first time and couldn't get enough. Fresh toppings, no mess, perfect crust. I deeply dislike a variety of stuff on my pizza and prefer to keep it simple, but the one with goat cheese, tomatoes, artichoke hearts and basil was pretty good. The other one ordered was a vegan kind and i didn't try it because i was so disgustingly full after inhaling numerous slices of the veggie kind. It looked DAMN good though. Delivery was a bit on the slow slide but definitely would call them again for the next pie fix.

apparently a lot of people hate this place. well, not me. it's not outstanding, but for sf pizza delivery you can't do a lot better. the crust is always crispy, and i think they use just the right amount of cheese and tomato sauce. they offer a lot of toppings, and their non-pizza items are generally pretty good. plus if you eat at the restaurant they offer pizza by the slice with good topping combos. cons: it's on the expensive side, and they're not particularly fast. the name is unfortunate. totally 1994, dude. 4 stars might seem excessive, but i can't think of a pizza delivery place around here that i like better. i could use some suggestions.

    (4)
  • Sarah R.

As we all know delivery options in SF are slim. So, if you want chicken wings delivered, these are your best option. Get extra blue cheese, and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza, and you've got a totally doable "I refuse to leave my couch" option.

Today I was looking for pizza to have for lunch and I stumbled into this place. I ordered a slice of pepperoni, it was a huge slice. Then I expected that it was gonna be at least $8 but it was really only $4! And when I ate it, it was great the quantity of the cheese and sauce was just right. Yum! So good!

They had left a stack of menus in the lobby, so we decided to give them a try. Usually I'm not a fan of gourmet pizza, but Mr. Pestato Head - with pesto, new potatoes, red onions, and feta cheese - sounded intriguing. When the forty-five minutes we were told it would take extended to seventy-five, we called back. Apparently they were swamped with orders so they had asked the less busy SOMA location to help out with some. We contacted them and were told our pie had 'just left.' A half-hour later we got a call from the driver, who was hopelessly lost and nowhere near us. Following our clear and concise directions, which should have gotten him to us in less than fifteen minutes, he finally arrived a half hour later, two-and-a-quarter hours after we'd placed the order with a store five minutes from home. The total on the bill didn't jive with the price we'd been quoted; turns out there was a delivery fee they'd failed to mention. $24.95 for a pie and they not only have the unmitigated gall to charge for delivery, but one that's ninety minutes late??!! Needless to say, the pizza was ice cold. Once reheated, we discovered the pesto was salty, the potatoes nearly raw, and the flecks of feta almost invisible to the naked eye. Obviously, never again.

Ordered a pie from this place last night. The delivery was a bit slow, but that's not what I'm rating here. I give the food 3 stars. The price was a bit outrageous - $22 for a medium pie with four toppings after tipping the delivery guy. I will look forward to trying other pizza joints in town and probably won't eat here again.

my favorite pizzas are serious chicago (patxis) or thin crust (bertuccis) but nothing between, lacking delivery of either, we have quested for good delivery pizza. this is the best we've found. slightly thicker crust than i'd like, but they have good combos, good coupons, and good ordering and delivery. have tried several of their combos and they are pretty great, the salads are good too. we've never been to this place but the delivery is always at least as fast as they say and the drivers have never slammed our pizza toppings all to the side like many others have!

Never again will I order a take and bake pizza from this place. After one night in the fridge and cooking it in a normal gas oven, the thing tasted like burnt cardboard. Ordinarily the delivery ones are pretty good especially the Kickin Chicken.

As I sat eating my $4.00 slice of pepperoni I thought back to the days of college: Oh Cosmos Pizza how much I miss your beer and slice lunch special. I loved how your friendly staff always gave me a slice when the line was out the door at 2:00am. Thank you for letting me call in a takeout special($10.99 large one topping) when the line was long. As I snapped out of my reminiscing I looked over at the right to the Danoo TV and thought of how it was such a cool company. There is something about the thought of a slice of pizza for $4.00. Now when I started thinking about it I realized that if the slice was $3.75 I probably would not have even questioned the price, but there is something about paying what the average middle American makes for 30 minutes of work. Getting that aside the pizza is damn good. They have beer on tap, at least at the Marina location. I always fee like I am back in Boulder when I go to extreme pizza, maybe because the owners met at CU, the theme reminds me of Thunder berg, the pizza is very similar to Cosmos and I get to look at really cheesy extreme pictures that remind me of Aspen?

you cannot go wrong with the yard sale... so tasty and not so greasy. the staff there are pretty nice as well. i usually order to go... they dont have much seating. the prices are okay... but they usually have some pretty good deals running on random days throughout the week... check their website. highly recommend this place for pizza...

I too had the "Mr. Pestasto Head" or whatever the hell it was called and found it to be rather tasty. I ate in, which might have made the difference for me. The pizza was delivered to our table on time and pipping hot, but then again, I can't imagine them getting lost in the 10 feet in their own store. It wasn't the best pizza I've had, but it was deffinitly food, and considering how bad "gourmet" can be, this was pretty good. Maybe 3.5, four stars is a bit too much.

My boss gave me a $5 coupon for this place. So of course I went the same day. I got a small pizza and a beer. The pizza was good, but had too much cheese for my taste. I liked the people who work there, good service, friendly. I got out of there for like ten bucks. It brightened up that rainy day.

Is this pizza extreme? Hell yeah! It's so damn extreme, it's never been seen. ME (45 minutes after ordering): Hmm, so is my food almost ready? THEM: Oh, did you order? Wait, let me look. Oh, OK. Maybe this pizza that's been sitting here for about half an hour is yours? Gee, we didn't know whose it could have been. We thought it might have belonged to someone. Sure, glad you mentioned something. It's cold now, but I think it's still edible. Here you go. The kid: I'm hungry. I can't wait for them to make another one. ME: OK. We don't have time to go anywhere else, either. THEM as we are finished and leaving: (Waving goodbye). Thanks, come again! Editing my review today (9/11/2012) after being contacted by an Extreme Pizza team member and being offered some "Extreme Green" (cash value coupon) to use at their restaurant and to give them another chance. I appreciate the kind gesture and for that and only that, I will be giving them one additional star. I do not plan on going back to the restaurant soon, but may possibly do so sometime in the future.

We got a large Yard-Sale, with Pesto sauce instead of tomato/marianara. That sh*t was bomb. Would give it 5 stars, but I don't give 5 stars. They also give you free ranch which is nice. Price was $25.50 which was pretty fair considering San Francisco prices. The Large filled up me and my girlfriend, it is 9:40am the next morning and we are still full. Will go again if the opportunity presents itself. ****

I've never dined in and only done take-out and I giggle each time I call because it sounds like I'm talking to some really nice, polite surfer dude (who I imagine is good-lookin'). So back from my vivid fantasy life - and please don't ruin it for me - I think Extreme Pizza is really good, especially the Paia Pie (Canadian bacon, pineapple & mandarin orange slices) and the Boa'rder (shredded pork, BBQ sauce etc assorted yumminess). I agree with the other Yelper! that the boneless chicken wings are strange and not good, like eating that fake "seafood" salad at a cheap salad bar that's pressed plankton or something gross. Other than that, Extreme Pizza offers good, honest pizza, subs, calzone, salads etc. with lots of toppings/options to choose from.

I like their pizza, so it's a shame I won't be ordering from them again. They say deliveries take 45 minutes. 60 minutes later, I call to check. They say it left the store and will be delivered in 10. 20 minutes later still nothing. So I call again to check, they have no idea where it is. So I cancel. Way to be proactive and customer focused, Extreme.

This place is pretty good. We got the Boar'der, and it was a nice change. Don't get the boneless wings though. They are like $5-$6 but you only get 6 teeny tiny little, itsy bitsy pieces. They taste alright but not worth the money. Employees here seem like a bunch of duds though. No personality, really don' t give a damn, and like they'd spit in your food if you give them attitude or the chance. A very "hurry up and pay, now get out!" attitude. Otherwise, its good. but I've only had the boar'der so I can't judge the others.

A rough transcription of my phone conversation after my pizza has not been delivered in 45 minutes (the "average" delivery time): Me: Hi, do you have an update on my pizza? Antoine: What's your name? M: Marcus. A: Well, it's not in the kitchen and it's out for delivery, so it should get there any minute. M: Okay then. After another quarter hour, my sister called asking the same question: Her: Hi, we just called about our pizza. Do you know where it is? A: Yeah, I remember you calling. It should be around the corner. H: Right around the corner? A: Well, okay. Fine, not "right around the corner". H: So what happens if it doesn't get here? A: I told you last time it would be there in 15 to 20 minutes. H: So what happens if it isn't here in 15 to 20 minutes? A: Don't worry, it'll be there. I don't like to think of myself as a very demanding customer, but I don't think it's that outrageous to expect that a business should tell you the truth. On top of that, it's fine if it isn't "right around the corner"; tell me that you don't know, tell me that it's on the way, tell me that you'll call me back with some update later--just don't say one thing, realize that you've made a promise you obviously can't keep, and then try to walk it back like a fool. I used to be a pretty loyal Extreme Pizza customer given how consistent and helpful they were, but apparently those aren't policies for them anymore.

My friend and co-worker, Shana is transferring to another department next week. Last Monday was our potluck. She loves pizza. We decided to order from this pizza place because they have pretty good selection to feed the herbivores, carnivores and omnivores at work. You can call or order online (where there is no wait!) Prices range from $7.75 (8" pizza) to $27.95 (huge 18") That's like, a XXL in T-shirt size! Very creative menu, I must say. They have some ingredients that I wouldn't think of putting on my pizza, like mandarin oranges (on the PAIA pizza), roasted walnuts (on Holy Cow) and homemade hummus (on Peace in the Middle East). Whoever came up with these pizza names is genius. We had the large Ragin' Rooster (in a delish BBQ sauce), medium Pandora's Box (I love sundried tomatoes!) and large Everest (hellooo! all meat!) We got 'em hot and fast, delivery time was 30 minutes from the time we called. Needless to say there weren't any leftovers.

Very good pizza, especially for a chain! As most that read my reviews know, I am a service dog and my favorites foods are shrimp and ice cream. However, now that we have had pizza from Extreme, I am thinking of adding it to my list! My Mom and Dad and I have now had the Railroad Grade twice, very tasty. They apparently use some very good cheese instead of artificial ones we have been stuck with at other pizza joints since we have been in San Francisco!

2.5 stars. BFF's hubby was raving about the pizza when we were tromping thru the Fillmore Jazz Festival. BFF went to get slices from there for lunch. By late PM, I was hungry again and decided to pop in for a quick slice after the crowds died down. But, they cook to order, so I had to wait (and I had to use their 1 stall bathroom which wasn't very clean with a line of women including the one behind me going "hurry, hurry" like she was waiting in front of Mervyn's in those old TV commercials). The pepperoni, $5 was actually 2 slices, each about 3-4 inches at the widest part. But, it was so oily. When I finally brought it out (everyone was asking me what took so long) to share w/hubby, even BFF's hubby said it didn't look too good, so greasy. Well, it tasted OK, I've had worse. At least it was thin crust.

If you are in need of gluten-free pizza, have extra cash to blow, or enjoy the novelty of creative toppings, this may be the pizzeria for you. I can't love the place because of the higher prices, the smaller scale of the pies, and for the few times I've purchased here, my orders always had something missing (ie. no sausage, no extra cheese, no mushrooms) - yet I was still charged for it! Naive me, I would always get home before realizing the mistakes. I also notice that the pizza crust here does not microwave well the next day - it turns into a cardboard-like consistency within seconds of cooling down. Perhaps the submarine sandwiches that are also served here would be a better deal, but my dissatisfaction for the place will prevent me from returning.

Daily slice specials are a good deal. Plenty of seating, including outside tables. Had a mozzarella and feta cheese slice with pesto, the special of the day. It was tasty but a little burnt. Seems like most of the slices are a little burnt. They have a good draft and bottle beer selection, including a daily happy hour! Cons: takes a long time for slices, and the full size pies maybe too highly priced

When I lived in SF, Extreme Pizza was a Thursday night tradition during The Office date nights with my best friend. The most original pizza combos in the city for sure. Quality, fresh ingredients and always yummmmmy! Favs are California Cactus (black beans, salsa, green chilies instead of chicken, black olives, jalapenos, cilantro, etc.) and Mr. Pestato Head (pesto, mozz, feta, red potatoes, red onions, basil). You can even do half and half with these!! The Peace in the Middle East hummus pizza is worth mentioning too, but doesn't quite compare to the other 2. Only complaint is that they can be kinda expensive. I've only ever gotten delivery. The salads are okay.

"I want the Poultry Geist pizza," I tell the boy. "But that has BROCCOLI on it," my +1 says, and wrinkles his nose. "Yeah - that way I know you're not going to eat mine," I reply. Whether it's delivery or eating in person with my favorite law-and-historical-girly-movies friend, Extreme Pizza has always been pretty tasty. Pitchers of beer are about $12, which is much better than the $5/glass rate. Pizzas I have thoroughly enjoyed include, but are not limited to, Poultry Geist, Peace in the Middle East, Holy Cow, and Green With Envy. Individual runs you about $8, but that more than fills me up (along with half a pitcher of beer, of course). If you want gourmet pizza, this is your place. I'm not sure I would bother with anything less, given the expense. Plus, it's right near Sundance Kabuki for a pre- or post-movie pizza and beer date!

Yummy pizza. I went here with my family, and got a good sized pizza and yummy two person salad( I was being a little prissy), and had a few bites of it( my mom split it with my aunt, and managed to split it with my dad, too, and there was some left for me). The pizza, my dad still raves about. We got the "railroad grate" pizza which was yummy. As I am writing this, I want the pizza, but am not able to get it, as I am home and far far away from it. *sad face* It was very nice, had I not been a prissy mess, I would've eaten the whole pizza...and the salad. The staff was nice. I had spilled a soda and they cleaned it up, no problem. And the quality was good. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Bland pizza combined with horrible customer service = absolutely no reason to ever go back. I live around the corner and used eat here a couple times a month. Its bland pizza, but it used to be cheap and was close to the pad, so it was easier than going somewhere else. However, I will not be going back, after a recent experience with them last week. I called up to use a coupon they had mailed me for a $17.99 combo the week before and out of a total lack of professionalism they would not honor it. Here's how it went: (exchange hellos, greetings, etc) Extreme Pizza: We can't honor that coupon, because its expired. Me: You just sent it to me last week. EP: No you have to have to get the combo for $24.99, cause that coupon is expired. Me: There is no expiration date on it and besides I eat there all the time, and the coupon is a week old. EP: Okay, I can take it.... (than she proceeds to take my order) EP: Hold on one second... (she than passes the phone to her manager) Manager: That coupon is expired and we can't take it. Me: But, you just sent it to me last week. Manager: I'm sorry we can't take verbal coupons Me: But its not verbal its in my hand as we speak. Manager: We changed promotions companies and we can't take that coupon anymore. You have to get the combo for $24.99 This went on for about another 2 minutes of silly excuses and reasoning, til I just finally said no thank, and I will spend my money at a place that is interested in honoring my business. Long story short, I went to Pizza Inferno across the street for the first time, even though it is closer to me than Extreme Pizza and got a far superior pizza for only a few dollars more. Save yourself a hassle and eat somewhere where they don't mislead and try to rip off their regulars customers.

My favorite place for delivery pizza! The reason is that I am gluten-free and it is very hard to find a good gluten-free pizza. I've tried one other place here in the city and while the pizza was good, the toppings were rather boring. Extreme's pizzas are, I think, rather inventive. My favorite is the Yard Sale (everything on it!). Just had the Boarder recently and it was delish! A Mexican inspired flavor with cilantro, black beans, cheddar cheese, chicken and more. I know that sounds a litte strange, but it's seriously tasty! Obviously they have regular, non-gluten-free pizza. Which is great because my hubby can get his and I can get mine. The gluten-free crust is not inexpensive and is about the size of a medium (that is the only size they have for gluten-free crust)...but being gluten-free you're willing to pay for the rare treat of being able to eat a tasty pizza meal :)

This Extreme Pizza on Fillmore is a tiny place just a block or so from Japan Town. It's really a take out place, with only a couple of tables and a small counter, with a kitchen and cashier squeezed in, all in about a 16 x 22 room. I have been in bigger hotel rooms. I dropped by late one night, just wanted to get a slice to-go before hitting the road. After the 4 people working there were talking to each other and ignoring me for 5 minutes, I asked for a slice of pizza. (I didn't see it on the menu board.) They asked Cheese or Pepperoni? and I chose Pepperoni. I thought they might have some ready to go, but they had to make my order. $4 dollars for a slice of Pizza? Took about 10 minutes as the 4 people kept talking amongst themselves, unconcerned about my waiting. Fortunately, they had a TV with a game on, so I could watch something to make the wait not seem so long. They gave me my pizza slice, and it was actually 2 slices, amounting to almost a 1/4 of a large pizza. So the $4 price didn't seem as bad. However, they gave me Cheese slices, not Pepperoni. I was getting a little hungry, so I was happy to accept that. But they apologized, gave me the two cheese slices, and said they would make the Pepperoni. While I started to eat my cheese slices and watch the TV, they made two more slices. It didn't take as long, either. They gave me 2 more slices with Pepperoni. So now I had two pizza boxes with 4 slices for $4. I walked out pleased with the bargain, but started looking for homeless people to give a slice to. Where are all the homeless when you want them? None to be found, which is unusual for this part of the Fillmore. I was happy for all the food, but absolutely stuffed after only wanting 1 slice, and eating 4!

huge slices for around $4.50 (2 toppings). Not great pizza, middle of the road but i like that you can eat outdoors. And they're gluten free which is trendy. I had the Railroad Special, similar to a combo pizza.

Rarely do I walk to a pizza place to place an order, but the last time I went to Extreme, I was surprised to find that there wasn't even a real pizza oven on premise. They use one of those conveyer belt ovens which reminds me of the cafeteria at my high school. Pizza isn't a complicated food option and while theirs tastes like pizza it's not good pizza. One star was awarded because they have skate and snowboards built into their tables, but otherwise Extreme pizza is pretty bad. I'm surprised by how many Yelpers give this spot a good review. Clearly a sign that they have no taste.

Today's lunch from Extreme Pizza in number form: 6 blocks' distance from Extreme Pizza to my office $1.50 delivery charge 5 hungry, cranky nurses, physical therapists, and secretaries 110 minutes' delivery time 1 missing entree (even though we ordered online and therefore had everything in writing) 0 percent chance any of us will order from here again, even though they knocked off 20%. Seriously. Everyone knows Extreme is mediocre at best (and the calzones were pretty shitty this time), but at six blocks away, we thought we'd at least get it get it in a reasonable amount of time, and didn't exactly expect to get shorted an entree on top of that. Fuck that shit. EDIT: They sent me (I assume it was me, though they did spell my name wrong) $20 in gift certs for the shitty experience. I ordered online again, leaving a note that specifically said I was using four $5 gift certs plus the rest in cash. When the delivery guy got here (on time, I should add), the bill was $3 more than the "Order Total" on the website's confirmation page, and the driver was told to only accept one gift cert (it doesn't say "one per order" or anything like that. He called and I was able to use all $20 but really, I'm never going to spend another dollar at Extreme Pizza ever again. And if anyone ever suggets getting Extreme Pizza, I will punch them in the mouth and eye. EDIT 2: Ooh, now they're spamming me. Awesome!

I don't know why people don't like this place more. My husband and I ordered a gluten-free pizza on their website assuming it would take a long time to come based on reviews I had read. We were surprised to find that the pizza arrived to our apartment within 25 minutes, steaming hot and delicious. The crust was better than at some other shops that offer gluten-free pizza. The only downside was it was kind of expensive for the amount of food.

It's a shame I have to write this review, I used to think this place had the tastiest pizza in town. But I just had to trash can $35 worth of food, so I feel compelled. Ordered a large pizza, salad, and a 2 liter. Online system said 45mins was average, and even though they're a direct 1/2 mile from my building I gave them an hour before I called to check on it's location. Girl who answered told me the order went out 20 minutes prior....ok, so it should be showing up soon, and hopefully not TOO cold. A full 30 minutes after that the driver finally arrived with the usual explanations: busy night, short on drivers, etc. Oh, but then he explains he passed directly by my building, with my order in his car to make a delivery in the Financial District which is where he hit traffic. So in short: my pizza was neglected and taken for a ride, under-cooked to begin with, and cold on arrival. The salad and soda were warm, and it took 90 minutes instead of the estimated 45. Not even a courtesy call from the restaurant to let me know it might be an exceptionally long wait. The only upside is now I can unsubscribe from Extreme Pizza coupon e-mail spam, because I will not be coming back.

This is just really good pizza! I was going to opt for 4 stars, but given that this place is about the size of a few walk-in closets, there is really nothing to say about ambience/service/etc. It's all about the pizza. And the pizza is excellent - especially if you choose well from the many bizarre names/flavors. I had the "Mr. Pestatohead" last night and liked it so much, I wanted to bring the leftovers to work for lunch the next day. When I opened the fridge to look for that shiny foil-wrapped triangle of goodness, it was gone -- my husband had already snagged it for HIS lunch! Maybe it was something about the combination of watching the pizza being made from scratch, with the rain pouring down, shivering and waiting with growing anticipation... but that pizza was GOOD. The side of Greek salad was great with it, too. I'll be back for you soon, Mr. Pestatohead.

pizza is mediocre. pizza is not cheap as I paid 3.86 for cheese slice. I even think one of their daily slices was 6.00. I would return because it is good.

It's very small inside but cozy, with sidewalk tables outdoors which is where I sat. I had the yardsale pizza, the side salad, and a beer. Totally cool lunch hour! see pic.

It's our go-to pizza delivery. Always very fast, hot, and they always accomodate our "light on the cheese, please" request. I love that they have gluten free and wheat crust options as well. Better than your standard pizza delivery, but a little pricier, too. However, definitely search coupons on google if you're ordering online. I can always get a discount. Coupon Code 1083. You're welcome.

My relationship with Extreme Pizza is just beginning. So far it's only been a slice, but after seeing their menu features toppings such as hummus, black bean & salsa sauce, and mandarin oranges (?!) as well as a no-cheese veggie pizza, I'm all over this place. Four in the city to sample - one down, three to go.

Not bad at all. Its vegetarian and carnivore friendly. THe cost is a wee bit more but I didn't wait long for my supper last night. Its great and its fast.

My part time job is right down the street from this place! One day after work I came here with my friend because I was starving! +: I LOVE THE RAGIN' Rooster. Something about BBQ chicken pizza that just gets me every time! The DRAG IT THRU THE GARDEN is pretty damn good too! Although it is quite salty from the marinated artichoke hearts. No brainier: the cheese pizza is always good too! :), cause they don't skimp on the cheese. I used to eat the cheese pizza from Extreme once a week! -: This is a really small place. There is some outdoor seating. If you are hungry, you should probably call in and order ahead.

I just ordered a pizza and decided to write an actual, serious Yelp review, this time giving potentially useful advice and avoiding exposing my sexual and other hangups to the internets. I'm going to admit up front that I ate probably more pizza than I should have and might go into a carb nap before I can finish. Sometimes I get ravenous cravings for pizza and most of the time ignore them because if I don't get the food I ordered within 30 seconds of hanging up the phone (or in this case click the submit order button to order online) I go into FRUSTRATION RAGE. There's something about ordering delivery that kills my ability to be patient. But tonight my pizza craving was overwhelming so I searched Yelp for cheap and easy pizza. I then went to the Extreme website and ordered a plain cheese, because I can't afford $1.50 per topping. I probably wouldn't be filled with so much self-loathing (and pizza) if I had gotten the "indee" size (which means the amount of pizza normal people would eat by themselves) but I went for the medium because I don't do anything half-assed. The indee probably would have done the trick, but seeing as how I ate 7/8ths of the medium size in about 4 minutes, the pizza monster inside of me might have been left angry and unsatisfied if I had eaten just enough to be full without my stomach exploding. The pizza itself is worth 3 stars, crust, sauce, and cheese. It wasn't orgasmic like that other place. In conclusion, if you are a skinny bitch get an indee sized pizza. If however you are already too fat for any man to love you anyway, get a medium and just admit that pizza is the only thing that will ever make you truly happy. I'd recommend getting some toppings, but they are kind of expensive ($1.50 each). The plain cheese is kind of plain but they give you red pepper flakes which seems to liven it up nicely. However, due to the lack of any real substance or vegetables preventing your jaw from being able to contain a whole slice at once, you could eat almost this entire thing and still not be that full (unless that is just me and I have some horrible medical condition. Seriously, I'm a girl and I'm 5'2" I should not be able to comfortably eat my own family-sized pizza). The pizza was delivered in a half an hour, the delivery guy was friendly enough although seemed kind of dismayed when I asked for $3 in change, thus giving him a $1 tip (hey man the delivery charge is already $1.50! I'm no Sultan of Brunei). I think he thought maybe I didn't do the math right, because he said "Ok, $3, so that's $1 for tip?" and I said yep, but at least I felt like an asshole about it, so that makes it ok. If you want to argue with me about tipping etiquette, please see Mr. Pink's speech in Reservoir Dogs for my complete feelings on the subject. He was the only one in that movie who didn't die. COINCIDENCE?

This is my go-to place for a good pizza in SF. Current favorite is the Yard Sale, which has just about everything on it - yet the chunks of tomatoes and other veggies keep the taste fresh. The crust is chewy and tasty, and the ingredients are quality. The menu features many inventive flavors, such as a pesto option and a hummus pie. While I like their many great combos of cheese and vegetables, their meat pie selection is a bit chicken-heavy - not a personal favorite. Next on my to try list - the Holy Cow, with four cheeses, walnut and fresh sage. Plus 10 points for the best online ordering system. I can complete my whole order easily, even customize half-pizza flavors. Delivery time is standard and prices tends toward the high side, but it's well worth it for a quality pizza.

Not bad. The pizza is your run-of-the-mill thin crust jones with a light, non-greasy aftertaste, which is nice. The toppings aren't anything special. The beers are five bones a piece. Decent slice is essentially two medium siced slices for about three bucks, pretty alright. I had a light, satisfied feeling after munching out here. Pretty alright. The employees sort of seemed like they had ZERO interest in having to deal with human beings, but other than that the place itself was pretty alright.

Ordered an XL pizza - 1/2 cheese + fresh tomato, 1/2 Hawaiian, and 2 Fresh Tracks Salads. The salad came first, which was fresh, delicious, and very large. When the pizza came out, it was definitely XL! And piping hot. The first bite was amazing! Gooey hot melted cheese, tasty tomato sauce with Italian spices, crisp dough on the bottom, and plenty of fresh toppings. The employees here were also very very friendly, and will offer you anything you might need (extra side dressings, closing the door if you're cold..). But you know it's REALLY good pizza when your bf from the East Coast gives it a thumbs up :)

i'm not picky and i've never written a Yelp review but the boneless wings are literally among the worst foods I've ever had, holy shit we opened the box and it was these weird meat/bread pebbles lightly dusted with red the texture was like this soft, flavorless, almost gummy monstrosity. there is no way these wings were cooked anytime within the past, like, year it would be legitimately hard to find microwave wings worse than these. MICROWAVE. as i'm writing this we are lying on the couch just quietly moaning and weeping to ourselves. we threw most of them away but eating more than zero was a mistake oh also! we called and asked for a refund - something i've done zero times in my life before - and the manager refused and launched into a spiel about how they don't give refunds and never have and never will. cool. great. don't fuck wit Extreme Pizza. you deserve better than this.

I love this place! Such good pizza... although the service *can* be a bit hit or miss - I've definitely had some delivery fubars, but only a couple. Yes, their specialty pizzas may be a bit crazy, but come on, look at the name. I LOVE the pandora's box (crazy), mr pestato head (crazy), poultry geist crazy), and paia pie (pretty normal). MMMMM. Also, very nice being able to order online - rarely takes as long to deliver as they estimate, but then again their estimate is usually about a day and a half, so the early arrival isn't that much of a surprise.

After standing in the pouring rain outside the Fillmore for 10 hours waiting in line to see the Black Crowes I was starving for warm yummy pizza. I ordered a broccoli & tomato pie hoping it would fill the cold void in my belly. They said they'd deliver it (although I was standing on the streets in the rain) I declined because it was faster if we picked it up, but that would've been pretty cool. The pizza box was soaked by the time we got it back to the line but when we opened it the pizza was yummy & warm inside! We shared with the fellow fans and were able to make a few new friends. So I'm wondering if ordering from Extreme Pizza makes you friendly? Haha!

Came here with my restaurant.com coupon and saved $25 off my $40 meal... (spend $35 get $25 off). We split 2 pizzas amongst 4 people and we were stuffed! It came out to be about $6-7 a person with a 20% tip as you should tip on the full amount of the bill, not after the discount has been taken off. Yayerrrr! We ordered a large Green With Envy - a pesto pizza with basil, tomatoes - and a medium Kickin' Chicken - chicken with peanut sauce, scallions, very reminiscent of California Pizza Kitchen's Thai Chicken Pizza but not as good as CPK's. The pizzas were tasty - not authentic, but you get what you pay for. They also have many appetizers and salads and daily slice specials. The restaurant is small, the staff is wonderful - very helpful, nice and accommodating. Parking is hard to find in this part of town - we ended up parking in the Japantown lot and ended up only paying $2 for parking anyways because we were there less than an hour - yeah! You get a good meal for a good price with your coupon - so head on over to restaurant.com to start saving and try this place out!

This is my favorite place to eat. Everything on the menu is great. My top picks are the chicken parm sub and the Screaming Tomato pizza. The staff are always nice and friendly, and ordering online is probably the best invention ever.

pizza is not bad for a quick eat. definitely like the online ordering option which makes things easier. not the best pizza in the world (i tend to be a huge fan of new york style) but good when you don't feel like cooking and looking for a quick bite.

Yay for Pizza! I love pizza. I am your annoying friend who eats pizza with a fork and knife, so I can savor. Every. Last. Delicious. Bite. I can't eat pizza everyday though, because I love the childlike anticipation that comes with it. Like Fridays; Fridays are good pizza days. So today, Friday, I dropped into Extreme Pizza for a slice and was considering getting a cheese and piling on toppings as I wished (they even have walnuts as a topping!) but decided to order my beloved favorite- the Veggie. When it was ready, the woman handed the box to me with a smile (bonus points for friendliness) and when I opened it to sprinkle on some crushed red peppers- I saw that she gave me 2 slices for the price of 1! Not only is it Friday and I'm getting pizza- but I got 1 slice for free! After I rushed home, I was so excited to see the beautiful Feta lounging on top of the spinach, mushrooms and artichokes, that I almost didn't want to ruin the moment. But moments like these are meant to be enjoyed, so I reached for my fork and knife and dug in like a mug.

I don't know why this place gets bad reviews...sure, its not the best pizza, nor is it the worst (that is Pizza Inferno just up the block). A slice of pizza which is huge and totally filled me up, was about 5 bucks, tasted good, had a nice thin chewy crust and since I live close enough, I took it home so I didn't have to eat it on the weird snowboard bench outside. The people that work there are very nice and work fast. It is not a place to sit and eat, get delivery or carry out. There are a lot of options for flavors, some maybe unorthodox but you can get healthy things like spinach and broccoli and I asked for a tiny bit of cheese and lots of sauce instead and they listened! I like this place, I dont care what anyone says. If you wan to be traumatized by pizza, eat at Pizza Inferno, then we'll talk.

Flashback: January 1, 2008. After a ridiculous New Year's Eve that included almost vomiting while someone drove us around Russian Hill at 50mph, going to multiple parties via foot, getting kicked out of a party in the Marina (more reasons to hate the Marina), and eventually getting back to our car at 3:30am only to find out it couldn't start because we were out of gas, my friend and I just wanted to take it easy. I was still living in San Jose and crashed at my friend's place in Pac Heights. We slept in as long as our bodies would let us and were craving comfort food by the time we got up and showered. My friend and I can both be very compulsive, so we go on kicks when we like one type of thing. This was my friend's pizza stage. She mentioned Extreme Pizza was down the street and who was I to argue with that? We marched in the small store with its cool surfing tables outside and ordered a few slices of pizza. The prices are good and the slices are usually pretty big. It's on its way to being more NY style, but let's be honest... it's a rare find around this part of the country to find TRUE New York style pizza. As we sat there putting hot peppers and cheese on our slices of pepperoni pizza, we decided that the upcoming year of 2008 needed a name. After a pretty chill 2007, we yearned for a year exciting and full of adventure. 2007 was good, but 2008 needed to be ridiculous- for both the good and the bad. Due to our surroundings, we dubbed it "Extreme 2008." And I'll be honest, the year lived up to its name completely. I can't think of a more extreme year in recent memory. Thank you, Extreme Pizza, for helping us create our own self-fulfilling prophecy. I hope on January 1, 2009, I find myself eating at a restaurant called "Taking it Easy Pho."

When I was in college, one of my friends told me that he had managed to bed two of the most attractive girls in our dorm. They were petite yet curvy, with immaculate bone structure and both also intelligent and very likable. When I asked him to rate his experiences, he threw up his hands and told me that unfortunately, both ladies were mediocre at best. What a waste, he said. This is kind of how I feel about Extreme Pizza. They have online ordering, lots of interesting toppings and even personal pan options so everyone can be happy but the execution of this pizza is boring & bland. And I really wish they would change their name. The 90s are over, dudes. "Extreme" isn't cool anymore. Edit 2007: In life, you must compromise and I have ordered from Extreme a few times now, as a form of compromise when I wanted online ordering and couldn't stomach any of the other options on delivery.com . The small "indee" pesto pizza w/ potatoes and feta was pretty good eaten cold on my bed while watching office re-runs on my laptop, but I still think everything else they offer is just mediocre. However, they have big giant chocolate chip cookies and anyone who will deliver dessert this way earns the extra star.

I stopped in here the other day before going to a show at The Fillmore so that I wouldn't be drinking on a completely empty stomach. I ordered a slice of cheese because I was running low on time, but 15 minutes later I was still waiting for that slice, and there was no one in the restaurant before me. I'm not really sure what took them so long, I might as well have ordered a full pizza in the time it took them to get me a slice. oh well. The pizza itself wasn't bad. it had very good sauce but an uneven distribution of cheese which was a little irritating. One bite hardly any, the next bit a huge glob. overall, I would come back here again for a pre-show bite to eat, but just not expect anything to happen quickly.

One of the best pizza places in the neighborhood. For a decent price you can get a large pizza with a good amount of toppings. I've always loved the taste and flavor. The slices seem even better than the whole pizzas. (I think it's due to the crisp-ness of the edges) Their lunch specials are great. One slice with a large salad and a drink for under $6. The only thing the staff seems to have problems with is fractions. Don't try to order 1/2 toppings. (like 1/2 olive w/ no onion) You'll end up with all-over olive and 1/2 onion. As long as you don't ask for any fancy fractions of toppings, everything is fine. There was even one time where they ran out of a topping and offered to upgrade our order to anything we wanted. When we declined they threw in free cookies!! Woo hoo!

I'm an ex-New Yorker and a total pizza snob. What the fuck. People are bitching about the pizza with hummus and seeds. I'm a purist and want a straight pie with pepperoni or just cheese. I'll take their straight pizza over anything else in SF and I've had them all. The first time I ate here I was famished. I wolfed the pizza and had to be heimliched. I wound up with a cracked rib. Nonetheless, I come back. Price is fine. Service is fine. Pizza is excellent. Nearly proper amount of grease. Good sauce. Thin crust. It's not Steve's on Trinity in Manhattan but it'll keep me going till I get home again. 4 stars.

EXTREME Rip-Off! EXTREME Disappointment! I paid $15 for a salad, a drink, and a personal-sized pizza that was about the size of a large slice at some pizzerias around the city... I didn't feel right about paying twice as much and only getting half of what I should have! And was there even sauce on the pizza? WTF? Okay, the food is good, I'll give them that, but it's definitely not "that good" that it should even cost anywhere near the prices they're charging! And to make matters worse, you have to order in their ridiculous lingo, "YA BRAH, I'D LIKE, TOTALLY LIKE, A SCREAMIN' TOMATO BRAH! INDEE SIZE, FA SHIZZLE HOMIE!! I'M LIKE, SO TOTALLY XXXTREME!!" which in itself is a pretty humiliating experience. This place would do well as a tourist trap, to give outsiders the chance to get hip with some So-Cal stylee, or whatever the hell it is they're pushing here... But locals must be crazy for ordering from this place. The only reason I ate here was because I came to the Fillmore to eat at Moz di Buf, which unfortunately had moved. Seriously, there are MUCH better deals in the city... Go there and give the money you didn't throw away here to charity or something!

Their Holy Cow pizza = 5 stars Service (delivery experiences) = 2 stars Please mentally add another half of a star onto my review for a total of 3.5. I'm simply rating their food based upon one pizza which I love (SO MUCH) that I refuse to try anything else that they make. It's called the Holy Cow. And the name was a perfect match to my flabbergasted reaction. I mean, people, this is one of the best pizza's I've ever tasted. Traditionally, they hold the tomato sauce. Me? I choose to add it. With extra sage. Crispy, flavorful, crunchy sage. Mmmm... the Weight Watchers gods who are currently trying to steer me on a path to bikini bliss are cursing me for craving it as I write about this glorious dish. I can't order a large size when I'm by myself, because one time I did and I ate the whole thing. In one sitting. I didn't know whether to be incredibly proud, or horribly embarrassed. I'd say it was a combination of the two. Now for the negative - I've had too many horrible delivery experiences. I'll highlight one time when they forgot about my order completely, then refused to send it because they had closed by the time I called to follow up and see why it hadn't arrived. Did I mention I had already paid? So they made the pizza, and it was free of charge. How nice of them, I thought! However I had paid for an extra large and it was a medium, it was missing the sauce, it was cold (even though they rushed it over), and the girl who delivered it could not have been more rude. She literally threw the pizza at me and stormed off while muttering "thanks a lot". I even had a tip to give her, but clearly decided not to.

Great pizza. I've only had delivery and the delivery guy is super friendly and nice. The pizzas are a little expensive, but try to find a coupon online (I found one with $5 off on any order over $12, good deal!). They're so full of toppings that you'll probably eat a slice less than you usually do. The salads are good too, two people can eat the side salad, its a really good size. Get an extra dressing though, the free serving is insufficient. The Veggie (Dragged through the garden) is overwhelmingly vegetablized (coined a new word yay!) Pestato head is very different + good Get the half-half to try two awesome pizzas! Enjoy!!

I went in for a slice after seeing it was going to be 25 minutes before the next 38-Geary. The veggie slice sounded good, though I was a little wary of the number of toppings (garlic, pesto, mushrooms, red onions, basil, oregano, mozzerella, and cheddar). I also thought $4.50 for a slice seemed a bit ridiculous, but I was hungry. Well, I was right to be wary. In trying to put all of those different things on the pizza, they couldn't actually put much of any of them on without overloading it. Unfortunately, what they did load up on were onions. The price was high, but it was a pretty big piece, so it made it a tiny bit more reasonable. The crust was thin, just as I like it, but it could have used another minute in the oven. I would go back, I guess, but there are so many other pizza places in town, I would go elsewhere first.

Every time I use the word EXTREME! I must say it in capital letters and exclamation points - I blame Magic Mountain circa 2000 for this. Flash forward 3 years and a few hundred miles north, I encounter this chain. At the time I thought it was pretty decent - not sure about it being EXTREME! though I really dug their capicola sandwiches and enjoyed their non-tomato-sauce-based pizzas. Alas, they don't appear to have those sandwiches anymore, at least not at this location, and the quality has gone a little downhill. I'll still take advantage of their birthday special come January and eat whatever people order at work, but if I'm going to walk there to pick up lunch I'd rather get it somewhere else since there's two other pizza places nearby. So, EXTREME! pizza just isn't so EXTREME! as it could have been or appears to be. How EXTREME!ly sad. :/

So! My friend just posted a review with this story a couple of days ago, but as the girl who was fallen on by the aforementioned inebriated individual, I feel like I should weigh in and bring the average rating for this place more in line with the actual quality. I've never been THAT impressed one way or the other by Extreme Pizza, but a meal there gave me a chance to come up with an unequivocal verdict. It was really hot out last week, which was awesome, so we decided to go for a late-night pizza at their outdoor tables on Fillmore. We sat at the big one made out of snowboards (which: not comfortable. Fiberglass, though EXTREME, is not a good seating material). They already were failing to impress us, as when we got there our pizza wasn't ready yet, but they let us pay and we said we'd be outside. They finished the pizza, and proceeded to... do nothing with it. It sat on the counter for probably 10 minutes-- not even a wave or a shout to let us know it was there. Finally, one of us had to go in to ask about it. So, whatever. Normally, for me pizza = forgiveness, so I was willing to let that all slide. As we tucked into the pizza, we noticed that there was an incredibly drunk man out there, sitting and talking to a couple who were clearly impressed (as was I) with how drunk he was and still awake. They were finishing up, so they took off and he apparently tried to stand up and come around the bistro table he was at. In so doing, he totally busted 1) the bistro chair that he ended up falling onto; 2) his head; 3) me. Yes. He fell RIGHT on top of me. Root beer, gone. Pizza, on the ground. The guy himself, on the ground with a busted head and too drunk to move. And by the way, he was also wearing a hospital bracelet-- never a good sign. This caused quite a commotion. There's no POSSIBLE way that the pizza guys didn't notice that SOMETHING was going on. But they did nothing. AND when we went in to say "Shouldn't you guys, like... do something? Maybe this guy is sick?" they said no! It wasn't their responsibility. Even though this happened on their property (where apparently they DO have the authority to make their own "Extreme Pizza Parking Only" sign-- I'm buying a car JUST TO PARK IN IT), and their customers lost a good part of the food that they had JUST purchased FROM EXTREME PIZZA. What would that POSSIBLY have to do with Extreme Pizza's employees? Our friend called emergency services on his cell, while the drunk guy literally crawled to the edge of the patio, and kept trying to stand, which he clearly could not do. It turned out that he was trying so hard to stand so that he could retrieve his bottle of whiskey, which was still on top of the bistro table. (Side note: That other customer Charlotte referred to was wearing Oakleys ca. 1993 and a Braves hat. Douchebag time warp.) We would have left immediately to make a point, but we already had our food, and I just can't get behind the whole "I'm going to show you how mad I am by not eating this perfectly good pizza that I already paid you for." So, the whole time I'm eating my pizza and watching the fire department personnel, who came when we called them to take care of the situation, load the guy onto a stretcher and put him in an ambulance. (Can you Yelp the SFFD? 5 stars.) A group that came up after all this happened thought maybe Extreme Pizza hired that guy "so they can keep up their reputation as Extreme." I have to say, they may be right, because according to that logic, it actually *was* the most extreme thing that happened to me all week. Yeah, you know what, Extreme Pizza? Even though pizza and firemen together are actually both elements of a fantasy of mine, drunk and potentially sick old guys falling on me are not. And your pizza is NOT good enough to go through all that with bad service to boot. So get over yourselves, quit acting like dicks and DO NOT F*** WITH MY PIZZA.

The other day I ordered the Pandora's Box pizza for delivery from Extreme Pizza. I was initially surprised by the delivery guy's methods: He called me from his car to let me know he had arrived, which is the usual way deliveries are done now, but when I came to the door he just sat in his car, as though he was waiting for me to come to him. It took him a while before he got out of his car and walked over to my door. Without making any eye contact whatsoever, told me how much i owed him. transaction complete. not off to a great start. the pizza was decent. the sundried tomatoes were amazing, a little explosion of flavor with every bite. but as other reviewers have pointed out, the crust was very tough. my jaw got a workout, especially with the leftovers! i'm giving them 3 stars because the pizza was pretty good, and i liked the feature of ordering online, but i felt the service was a bit rude and the crust was too tough. for the price i would expect more.

Not too shabby. We went here before seeing a movie down the street. The place was pretty packed so we had to wait outside. The pizza choices were fairly decent and although the prices were a little too high, I thought it was pretty alright pizza. I'm not gonna RAVE about the pizza because it really wasn't all that. The service was fast and efficient. I thought it was decent enough to go back sometime.

I'm surprised by this place's low ratings. It's by no means the best pizza out there, but it's solid, and although it can be pricy if you add toppings, their basic pizzas are really good. They use cheddar in addition to mozzarella on all pizzas, and this gives their pizzas a little kick. I was really into this place for a while. Their marketing is a little SoCal, but I'm from down there so it doesn't bother me as much.

I'm in town for work and needed something gluten free delivered to my hotel, which isn't the easiest thing in the world to come by. These guys delivered me a HOT and delicious gluten free pizza in about a half an hour. Yum yum!

I really love their tomato sauce, and find myself craving it from time to time. Their dough is good quality, and their cheese is excellent. Being poor, I've only ever gotten cheese pizzas here. I don't recommend the salads here... they consist of some large pieces of lettuce topped with raw pizza toppings. They were pretty stingy with the artichoke hearts last time I had one, too. Lastlly, if you're going to get a "personal" sized tiny pizza, JUST GET A SLICE. It's just as big and considerably cheaper.

Had dinner here for the 1st time and it was pretty darn good...liked the sauce very much and nice crunchy crust. Small little location and parking was kind of rough. But all in all I liked it very much.

I went at night and it wasn't clear whether slices were still available or not, so my friend and I ordered a Mr Pestato Head pizza. It was pretty good, but also pretty expensive. We figured out as we were eating that slices are available at night and they have them posted on a board across from the register. I might be back just because it's near by me but overall nothing too special

I'm sorry, Extreme Pizza, I thought I had eaten at you! But aparently, where I ate was Pizza Inferno. You are both so colorful, with very intense pizza names, and so close together... but I now realize I have yet to know you! I will eat at you tomorrow so that my review of you will be justified.

Extreme Pizza did the trick yesterday. I was starved, and they were speedy and affordable. It's exactly what you would expect -typical american pizza. It's just fine - but not special.

I am extremely displeased after an experience tonight at this franchise. Food, fine; customer service, nil. First the pickup order for our pizzas was in some kind of black hole when we got there, so we ended up waiting a while longer than expected. No problem, cause tonight is a beautiful night , still warm at 11:30 p.m. and we will wait for, then eat, our order on the snowboard bench outside. Except after telling us it would be a few minutes longer, seeing us sit down, they couldn't even bother to tell us when ready, let alone do us a favor and walk it 10 feet to our table. Even that's understandable, as we ordered it takeout. It might have a been a nice courtesy, though. Lack of courtesy became the least of our concerns (eh, how melodramatic I sound.) Glossing over nuances: extremely (how apt) drunk man sitting at EP's tables next to us. We're eating when he stands and lurches into our table, knocking pizza out of my friends hand, my root beer all over me, the table and my brother. He also hits his head on the snowboard table and breaks one of the french bistro chairs. My friend tries to help him up, but he can't even get to standing position. One of us goes inside to see if the EP people can help us out, maybe call an ambulance, or at the very least help us try to deal with a problem on their property and furniture. Not only will they not call someone for help, they won't even come outside and help us deal with the situation. Or our ruined food (a small percentage, thankfully). Or our experience at their place. Or even just their broken furniture. "It's not our problem, we're not responsible," they told us. (plus some douchey customer told us to leave the guy alone cause he's "working hard." that's just plain tomfoolery. fucking retarded tomfoolery.) Disregarding the fact that it's a strong possibility that they ARE indeed responsible for accidents that happen on their property right in front of the store... wouldn't it just be good business sense to make sure your customers are okay and still enjoying their pizza? Or be humanely decent to someone in trouble at your place of business? One employee did come out (post-ambulance and fire truck arrival, where it was revealed that the drunk man had a hospital bracelet and had only been discharged a few hours before this incident) and half-heartedly ask if we needed more pizza or anything. Thanks, dickwad. But I never need any more pizza from your location again.

Ok my friends lets talk about something. My roommate(the Vegan) is a good friend of mine. I try to accommodate him at every turn. Even though I would love to eat a steak , I'm usually forced to eat Indian food. Well this particular night we were both in the mood for pizza. "That's Perfect" I say to the bright eyed vegan. He's so excited because I have declared "EXTREME PIZZA HAS SOY CHEESE MY EARTH CRISIS LOVING HERBIVORE". So we use our cellular communication device to give them a ring. well the soy cheese is vegan. but the dough is not. WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT??? What the point?? Well i had to burst the little vegans heart . As ray cappo would say "no more"...

This pizza gave my mouth a workout! It was chewy and my jaw was tired by the time I was finished eating. They do give you big slices and it is fairly cheap for what you get, although the slices are really thin! The people that were working there were friendly and helpful.

  • Smooth R.

I've passed by here numerous times and never ever stopped to get a glimpse of what they had in stored. I'm a pizza connoisseur and I want something to make my mouth water. I wasn't sure what to get and I went in to see what they had. The dude taking my order was not at help to me. I just picked something with peperoni, onions. mushrooms, and some other stuff. It was good as heck! So I'm sold will go back again! If you want tick crust you better ask or else you just get thin crust which was fine with me.

Ordered the Railroad Grade and the Kickin Chicken for delivery. A medium at Extreme Pizza is about the same size as a pizza at Delfina Pizzeria (probably the best in San Francisco), but much more expensive. The flavors were fine, but the price point is EXTREME! Go with Escape from NY, Nizarios, North Beach Pizza--even Round Table would be better.

  • Melissa Q.

I seem to be in the minority here but I LOVE THIS PLACE. At least once a month, I ask my guy if we can have pizza. He doesn't bother asking me where I want it from anymore. Our favorite is the Railroad Grade. Basically your supreme pizza, it just all tastes fresher. I like that they put mandarin oranges on the Hawaiian pizza. The twisted bread sticks are amazing--They even listen to me when I tell them to yank 'em out a moment early so they don't get crispy. Dining in is fine. The TV is on and the staff is friendly. Parking ain't bad. Delivery guys are friendly. This is my fast and cheap pizza place.

Popped in for an early dinner before a show at Yoshi's which isn't far down the road. We got there for happy hour, which meant the second pizza was half price. Good thing too, because they're on the expensive side. Flavours were nice, it's kind of differently presented in a square single serve about the size of an old LP record. Good range of flavours that are a bit different but retain a wide appeal.

Extreme Pizza, why do you like to bring me regular Pepsi instead of Diet Pepsi? Is it because I ordered a cookie, you think I must want more and more sugary goodness? Well no, I must admit that I cheat when I order your food to be delivered, and I am admittedly ruining my diet each time I succumb to laziness and hunger, but still .. .even though I order your cookies and pizza, I still DON"T mean regular pepsi when I order DIET pepsi!! (sigh) (Ok they only did it twice but that seems like a lot. I don't know how many times I've ordered but it must be between 5 and 10 times.)

Pizza needn't be this expensive, but they are in my neighborhood, offer delivery, and use thrashed-out skate and snowboards for bench seats, so I keep 'em on the short-list. My dogsitter was over Saturday and wanted some pizzie, expressing an interest in something Round Table-ish. I ordered up an Extreme pie and some 25 minutes later or so, he was thanking me enthusiastically. Baxter, however, was bitchy because it smelled so good that he knew it had to be goddamn people-food.

Let's begin this by saying my experience with this Extreme Pizza motivated me to start a Yelp account and write my first review. Way to go, Extreme Pizza. The only redeeming quality of my experience was that Extreme Pizza offers soy cheese on their pizzas, which is great since my boyfriend is a vegan. Long story short, I ordered pizza off their website and gave them my credit card information. An hour later, the delivery boy comes, and informs me that my credit card has been declined. Now, the delivery boy CALLED me, so I know they have my number. Why is it that the people at Extreme Pizza didn't have the brain (or decency) to let me know BEFORE the pizza was delivered?! The only other option for me is to get another card (had I known before hand, however, I would have gone to the market around the corner to get cash, before it closed by the time he came). So the guy tries calling the store, and to no avail. He basically gives up cause they keep on putting him on hold. Awesome customer service. Basically he finally gets through and instead of dealing with it himself, makes my boyfriend take the phone and deal with it. And to top it off, since we were standing outside, the pizza was barely warm by the time we got it inside. And all the chili flakes were conveniently thrown about our pizza before we had a chance to say otherwise. Remind me to never order delivery from them again.

Average pizza. The crust sucks but the BBQ sauce makes up for it. So make sure your pizza is drenched in BBQ and you'll be just fine. But I guess if you have to go to those extremes, it's more like 2 star pizza. Oh well, it's close, I have a coupon and I'm too lazy to think of another option. Really, it's not that bad. We had the Boar'der. Cute. Others have complained that their pizza arrived cold. MIne too. Who's the lucky bastard who gets his pizza delivered piping hot while the rest of ours chill in the backseat of his car? Damn you, you lucky bastard! I don't know why everyone thinks this place is so expensive. Oh wait, maybe it's because I keep using the same buy-one-get-one-free coupon.

They deliver Gluten Free pizza. To me, that is AWESOME! The pizza isn't too small like most gluten free pizzas. Its pretty much a medium sized pizza and it taste pretty good for being GF, which is hard to come by.

Mr. Pestato Head, Kickin' Chicken and Pandora's Box....who can resist with names like that! 3 +1 star for the cool names.

Out of the places I have ordered pizza from for work, I found this one to be the most professional and smoothest/easiest to work with: Pros: Unique toppings to choose from, possibility to order online, delivered a little bit early... Cons: A little pricey for pizza...but no different than Pizza Orgasmica.... Recommendations: Pandora's box was definitely the group's favorite but Mr. Pestasto head was popular too...the Large Group salad was really big...would have fed an army! They don't open until 11 am, so I'd recommend ordering the night before if you have a group event at lunch - they remembered my order without any problems and it was all taken care of. Also...on a positive note for security, they DO ask to see the credit card that matches the number given over the phone when delivering...if you're using a Purchase Card for work, make sure you have it readily available!

Well of course everyone talks about the food and yes the Pizza is great!!!! I have been really loving it every time I go! I have never ordered delivery I always like to go and hang out there,(it's in my hood), either in with friends or at the counter, or basking outside. It has especially been great since I found out I was lactose intolerent and couldn't have cheese =P But huzzah! This is the only place that I found that has delicious pizza and soy cheese too! Whether it's a veggie night with "DRAG IT THRU THE GARDEN or a carnage feast with "THE YARD SALE" I am still loving it every time. I seem to end up there when the some people are working and Aaron and Ally have been nothing but great fun- I heartily recommend this one especially, so all I can say is ENJOY! PS. happy hour beer is not a bad thing either LOL

I come from the Land where Pizza is King. I've even seen Temples erected to pay homage to the King. I believe they are called "Pizza Huts". As much as I love Pizza, I do not go to these "Huts" to pay tribute to my King. I go to smaller, more personal places of Worship. Since leaving my Pizza Kingdom, I have a hard time finding the Effigy of my King that is Stuffed or in a Deep Dish. When I choose to Worship, I like to be able to provide offerings of Silver.....Silverware is customary. My Prayer Books that I keep magnetized to my refrigerator for Worshipping at home get used often and some are quite old. Going through my Prayer Books, I noticed that one House of Worship could deliver me the Almighty Stuffed Icon that I had been seeking. It was called "Extreme". They had a phone number for me to call to begin my Tribute. Nervously, I dialed and waited for a Pontiff to help take me to my Higher Power. "Thank you for calling Extreme." I sink to my knees and humbly ask for the Stuffed Likeness of my former King. "Umm.....we don't have Stuffed Pizza anymore." **Crickets** I know there are many Worshipers and the Holy Voice would need to attend to their Exaltations. I quickly scan my Prayer Book as my vision blurs.......suddenly, one Verse became clear: "RAILROAD GRADE Italian sausage, pepperoni, fresh mushrooms, red onions, fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar." If Extreme Pizza were the Sistine Chapel, this Pizza would be Michaelangelo's handiwork. Here's the Breakdown: 1 star for quality.....REAL ingredients, perfectly cooked. 1 star for diversity.....if they can't make it, it's not Pizza (except Stuffed, boooooo). 1 star for location.....if I move, they'll be there. Now how do I get this tunic off?

It really is kind of..bad. It's so close to my apartment, but I don't think I will ever buy food from this establishment again. Ever. Past mediocre. They said it would take over an hour for delivery...is this normal for pizza joints? Who takes over an hour!! pop that shiz out of the oven, Bah.

  • Scott T.

The box says "extreme - not mainstream" - probably one of the most mainstream pizza I ever ate. There are also little stick-figure images of I guess what one would consider "extreme" activities. Biking, canoing, parachuting, bungle jumping, hiking and the like. As if those who eat this pizza are into extreme activities. Generally, those who eat pizza regularly are more into extreme drinking. Where's the stick-figure image of someone vomiting? The pizza is what you would expect from a typical pizza joint. Simple, hot, fresh but not earth shattering and mediocre crust. The kind of pizza we all crave from time to time. They have a good selection of toppings and even some unusual ones. They deliver, allow you to order online, and are open relatively late. The online ordering seems more cool than it is (although after going through it, I thought it would have been quicker just to call and pay cash... but oh well). However, $22.75 for a two topping, run-of-the-mill pizza is far too much. If this was an amazing pizza, I wouldn't mind. But I'm feeling 16$, not 23$. I will probably continue to order on occasion but I am not happy about it. Someone should open the same thing but charge a few $ less.

I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but it's decent pizza. It's basically a better version of Pizza Hut, so if you like that kind of pizza I'd suggest giving this a shot.

The only thing that is extreme about their pizza is my intense dislike for it. California really needs some help on their pizza culture, sheesh.

Hmmm... I actually really love Extreme pizza. The toppings on their vegetarian pizzas are awesome. I used to order for delivery from another location so I can't speak about that, but since January, I've been going to this location for lunch. I usually get a vegetarian sandwich or their vegetarian slice of the day, both are very tasty, a little pricey but not too bad. I got the slice today and it was about $4.50. I've had mostly good experiences with the staff too, but one time I was told that there would be a 30-40 minute wait for a slice because they were swamped with orders. (It was a Saturday and they DID look rather harried so I let it go.) Staring at the selection of beer in the cooler always makes me a little sad because I have to go back to work. *sigh*

Generally not a big fan of franchise/chains but this place has some good value and definitely has pizza with character. Service was great, with a smile, liked the atmosphere and outdoor seating. Also some great promo deals if you look around. I will be back!

This place should not deliver pizzas if they can't deliver a hot pizza. They do make gluten free pizzas which I thought was a plus as I have to have a gluten free pizza. Well this place is maybe 5 minutes driving from me, and they delivered a luke-warm gluten free pizza. It's really rare for me to eat pizza, so when I can get a gluten free pizza I'm excited and ready for it. My pizza that I paid $25 for was not hot, but I called them and let them know, and they offered to deliver me another pizza. I said sure just make sure it's hot. An hour later, I hadn't received my pizza, and I'm getting off work. I call them to tell them to deliver the pizza to a different address as I'm leaving work, not far from work tho. The lady tells me on the phone, "The pizza is with the delivery guy." So I say, "You all don't have cell phones!' She then puts me on hold for 5 minutes. In the meantime, my job calls and lets me know the pizza came. I'm back @ work within 2 minutes, open the box, take a bite of the pizza, and MY PIZZA WAS NOT HOT! Not only was the pizza not hot, but it was very dry, and not full of many flavors. Some people may be thinking, "that's because it's gluten free." Not so. Next time I'll just wait till I'm in San Mateo and head over to Red Brick Pizza, which serves a very delicious gluten-free pizza. :)

Extremely crappy pizza! They get an extra star because the delivery guy was pretty swell. He had a light up pen so you could actually see what you were signing. He was also quite good humored when I answered the door with a full shotglass in tow, and he had to wait for me and my roommate to take the drink before taking the food from him.

The prices aren't the most amazing, but the food is really great. I love the Boar'der pizza and even though the boneless wings price to quantity ratio is a little off, they are still awesome. I would recommend this place because it is not your standard garden variety pizza selection.

The service is efficient, their website and calling into their location directly is simple and easy. They have also delivered the correct order, within their 45 minute timeframe each time. The pizza itself; covered in ingredients and tastes pretty good. They have a number of specialty pizzas, and a couple of side items to choose from. Its a thinner crust than say Round Table or Dominos, and a medium's the size you'd expect (however the price is not, as some have noted). The few times I've eaten the food, I've enjoyed it a lot. On the plus side is the taste, the options, the efficiency. The negative side of E.P. is their pricing. Its hard to come by cheap, GOOD, delivery in San Fran, so sometimes you gotta bite the bullet.

Wow, there's a lot of snobby people reviewing this place, but don't worry, I'm a pizza connoisseur, so I'll set you straight. Extreme Pizza has eclectic styles of pizza. They tend to mix it up with obtuse combinations of vegetables or whatever. However, I know this, so when I order, I surf through the menu and pick something I'm comfortable with. If its bizarre and unappealing, I don't order it. Problem solved. FYI: Extreme serves a thin crust Za that is light on the bread and heavy on the toppings Here's some of the things I like about Extreme: - the delivery was surprisingly fast. - if you order online, they'll ask for your email, but then you get on their mailing list and once a month I get free stuff. Its odd, but I typically only order from Extreme once a month . . . Hmm. . . - This last month my roommate and I both were snail mailed buy one get one free pizza deals. (We're both on the mailing list). Not a bad deal. - They have a couple of sandwiches which are DY-NO-MITE ! I'll get a side of the twisted cheesy garlic sticks and be a happy camper for the rest of the day. - Extreme makes for a viable touch of variety once every 30-60 days. I'm not expecting gourmet, but its nice to mix it up. - Vary rarely (1-2x/year), I'll actually be wandering Fillmore St and stop in at the actual venue. At this time, an occasional slice works just fine. Is this my favorite Za? No. Is this a good choice to mix it up? Heck yeah.

yum! don't go crazy.. just order the simple basic classic cheese with a single topping.. maybe two.. most of their specialty pizzas have wayyyy too much going on.. it just ends up being a tad overwhelming.. good.. but overwhelming.. it's hard to manage to take a bite.. much less to finish a whole slice.. stick with simplicity..

I love that they have online ordering. What I do not love is walking in to pick up said online order, and being met with a blank stare. Not even a blank stare to my eyes, but one over my shoulder. And this was after standing there for a few minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me. Then...I wasn't even given my full order. Apparently, the girl at the register couldn't read, or couldn't be bothered to read it the whole way through. Luckily, one of the other workers knew that my order wasn't complete and fixed the situation (I have seen him there before...he may be the manager or something). He is the only thing meriting a 2nd star. And the pizza is mediocre. Very bland.

I have never written a review on this site but my experience today made me do so. We ordered a pizza around 1pm. Two hours later it finally arrived. No apology from the deliver guy, he actually seemed agitated. In addition, the pizza was barely warm and was terrible. I urge everyone to this twice before calling this place. Za's, Little Star and virtually every other place in SF is a much better option.

The pizza is not something to remember, especially since it was too cold in the restaurant. It was a rainy/windy day in the city and we asked that they close the doors. We were told no. All customers were eating in their coats! The pizza is just alright nothing special. Will not go back

I had to arrange a pizza party for 100 people a few years ago. Since the money I was spending wasn't mine, I was super-duper careful to be as thrifty as possible with it. Extreme Pizza is THE BEST DEAL in town when it comes to large orders. Why, pray tell? Because when you factor in the size of their pizzas and the price of their toppings, you come out with way better deals than any of the non-franchise (Domino's / Papa John's type dealios) competition in SF.*** I compared Extreme to North Beach and Orgasmica, and at first North Beach looked like it had better prices, but then I realized that their "extra large" was akin in size to Extreme's large (or something like that... I forget the exact details). Bottom line - best pricing. Trust me. I obsessed on this for a whole work day and I know I'm right dammit. Because my order was so large, I placed it two days ahead of time. They delivered hot, perfect and on time and made sure to include all the necessary accoutrments, like plates, forks, napkins, etc. (I'd also ordered a couple of salads from them and chicken wings). Everyone at my function was happy because Extreme even offers vegan options for their pizzas. Sweet. Will definitely use again if I do a large thinga majig. ***That delivers to the Filmore area and does banquet-type stuff including plates, etc.

This place is not for pizza purists. My East Coast friends don't understand why we put things like chicken or pesto or broccoli on our pizza. Me? I love it. Don't get me wrong - I don't necessarily love Extreme Pizza, but it's not THAT bad. I like their Poultry-Geist - a chicken pizza with ranch sauce. They delivered my pizza in about 30 minutes and it totally hit the spot. If you want authentic pizza, hit up somewhere like Golden Boy - the best pizza I've had yet in SF.

The pizza here is OK. Thin, toasted crust, good cheese and nice sized toppings. The service is not OK. I called ahead and asked if there were any specials and the guy acted like I insulted him. "Regular menu only." Also, a 30 min minimum wait, over an hour for delivery. I only went because someone else requested it but there are better places in the City.

I'm really surprised that I haven't reviewed this place before. I really dig the Peace in the Middle East for it's tasty hummus, tomatoes, olives, onions, feta, fresh basil, pepperoncinis and mozzarella. It really hits the spot for me. I like to order it with grilled chicken too.

2 HOURS FOR A PIZZA?!? Their pizza is good, but be prepared to wait. The last 2 times I've ordered from the Fillmore store, I've had to wait 1.5 and 2 hours respectively. The food arrived kind of cold both times. Don't bother. Order from Marcello's instead.

It's not that bad. Minus a star because my favorite large pizza comes out to about $22 (Ragin Rooster with no cheddar) Minus a star for giving me the worst meatball sub I ever had, I think it had a total of 3 mini meatballs in it. Plus a star since they let my dog come in with me. This place does not offer any type of "East Coast" pizza, they are all layered with tons and tons of random toppings. Crust is pretty good and pizza is cooked well, cilantro distribution on my fav pizza is not always uniform and sometimes overwhelming. They have a selection of beers and I believe 3 on tap (Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, and something else), TV with whatever game is on, 3-4 tables outside. Online ordering is pretty cool but gets VERY expensive.

My family and I usually grab our pizzas from here. I love the screamin' tomato, railroad grade for my dad who likes the classic supreme/combo pizzas, and ragin' rooster. The railroad grade and screamin' tomato are great, I absolutely love them. The railroad grade is suprisingly big and completely full of toppings. I dislike chicken in my pizza ... usually because it tastes very dry, but the chicken here is very moist, but not as good as the other two.

I don't understand why all the low ratings for EXTREME?!?! Granted, it is one expensive pie. However, I think it is well worth it. Make sure to order well in advance, cause this puppy ain't coming for at least an hour to an hour and a half, but once it arrives..... ahhhhhhh..... from some one who used to live in New York - this is my favorite pie in SF.

Extremely awful!!! Cardboard crust, tasteless cheese and the sauce tastes like ketchup.. reminds me of a worse version of Santa Cruz Beach Board walk pizza.. YUCK!

I guess everyone really has their own personal opinion on what types of pizza they like or not, but as for me, this place does the job. It's not the best pizza i have ever had, but i really dont care, it is good enough. I often get the daily slice and a half dozen of wings, with a total of only slightly over $8 bucks, thats not a bad price for lunch! The workers here are pretty cool and down to earth, the location is pretty nice too, right at the border of fillmore before it starts becoming ghetto lol.

  • She-Ra ..

Not the best, not the worst. Extreme Pizza will permit you to place your order over the internet and the pizza is delivered relatively quickly (esp. compared with Pizza Orgasmica.) Their crust is on the thin side, I like it after sticking it in the oven for a bit so that its a crispier.

O-M-G!!! The yuckiest pizza I've ever tasted!! Extreme Pizza which means Extreme Yuck? The taste was bland, the toppings were too big to eat, last pizza on earth, not worth of your money to spend!! sorry to say but at least i'm honest!!

The Pizza here is great! I am a pizza fan in general, but try not to eat too much. However, I found the pizza at Extreme to not be very greasy at all. The service has always been friendly and usually the guy gives me a free drink (soda) just cuz I ask what the special is. I also love their Greek salad. Very fresh and yummy feta and pepperchinnis. I'll keep coming back for me.

  • Elizabeth H.

It's really not all that good, but I'll give them a couple of stars for the pizza with the gorgonzola, walnut & sage and the pulled pork sandwich but in general, their pizzas aren't cheesy enough, their crust sucks, and there aint nothin' "chewy" about their chocolate chip cookies.

    (2)
  • Camille K.

I had the individual size ("Indee") Pandora's Box (spinach, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, etc.). It was fast (10 minutes) and delicious. The crust was the perfect texture and weight - not too thin and crispy, but also not too thick or soggy. The ingredients were fresh and plentiful.

  • Darrin G.

I'm really surprised at Extreme Pizza's low ratings. I've always been really happy and satisfied at every dining experience I've had there. When I didn't eat animal products, I often went to Extreme Pizza because they offer soy cheese.

  • Elle C.

I was always under the impression that, while not all pizza deserves five stars, even the bottom of the barrel pizza is acceptable. I was wrong. To each his/her own, but Extreme's crust was cardboardesque; the toppings (even though we had four) were tasteless; and the lettuce in the salad was wilted. No reason to order a $25 pizza when you you could get a better one at even the cheapest choices, like Volare or even, dare I say, Dominoes?

  • Thomas R.

Guys - This is NOT my favorite pizza joint! The staff were really cool, and nice, and did their job(s) with smiles and service was not an issue. The menu IS full of EXTREMELY cool combinations of great stuff - and I expect that you would be hard pressed to ever find another pizza joint to serve a pizza with hummus, tomatoes, olives, onions, feta, fresh basil, pepperoncinis and mozzarella (" Peace In The Middle East"). But, this is PIZZA. P-I-Z-Z-A. I guess I spend too much time in NYC to be able to objectively evaluate this joint. Note - this reference means that pizza is "pizza". It does not include hummus. Ever. Well, OK, maybe if I were stoned as hell, or maybe if I were in a state of mind that forced me to think "I wish this pizza had something else on it... maybe chicken wings...", then maybe I would recommend it. Last, I just can't figure out how they justify margins (profit) like Exxon. Wow. The hugest pizza (18"), in this case a BBQ chicken pizza (called "RAGIN' ROOSTER") -- a large by any other standard, cost a whopping $26.95. Oh my God. Twenty Six bucks. WHAT? Did they make it with gasoline? *note - when this was written, Exxon had just reported a quarterly profit in excess of $8 billion. Gas was just on its way up to European price-points. So - the food IS good. But, it is PIZZA. So, if you're in the mood for a gourmet-ingredients-experience, all served on pizza dough, you'll have a nice time. But, don't order a regular pizza, unless you're ready to pay an incredible premium.

There's nothing "extreme" about this place. The pizza is neither extremely good or extremely bad. It seems pricey for the quality of pizza you get. I don't think i'd go back unless was I extremely hungry.

The pizza is really good, HUGE, and pricey. My bf surprised when he ordered and was carrying it out of the store-- this HUGE box. He ordered 'dragged through the garden for me; the BEST veggie pizza i have ever had! His side looked very meaty and he had the biggest smile on his face when he had his first bite! *yum*

A place I worked at had "Pizza Fridays", and they ordered from Extreme several times. It was a novel thing...for the first day or so. The "Kickin' Chicken" and the now-defunct Barbecue pizza's were ones I usually gravitated to. The first bite of one of these was pretty good....but after the first piece or so, whatever odd chemicals they flavored it with seemed to overload my taste-buds...and what came across after that just didn't sit right on the palette. I never did feel all that great after indulging in Extreme Pizza either. I tried the Mr. Pesto Head too....it was OK...not as odd as the others, but nothing to write home about. Extreme catered the Friday lunch for about a month. I noticed that the passing of each weekend brought a larger amount of leftover pizza. One Friday I snarfed a bunch of it and took it home....but found out soon thereafter that it wasn't very re-heat friendly. I've eaten A LOT of leftover pizza....The Kickin' Chicken was OK the next day, but the Barbecue tasted metallic, and Mr. Pesto Head just didn't appeal to me...I wound up tossing a lot of it. I it rubbed the rest f the office the wrong way too, as it wasn't long before another Pizza vendor was showing up on Fridays. My advice? Shine this place. There's some flavoring, seasonings, or chemicals in these recipes that just aren't on the up-and-up. I get an odd feeling after I eat this stuff....like my body is telling me that I've done something icky to it...and it asks "please, can we not do this again?"

I love ordering from them online. Food comes very fast (always faster than they quote) and the pizzas are really interesting. My favorite is the one with walnuts and cheese (it's sauceless but you can get sauce for free). A little pricey, but as is everything in this town!

Very good pizza. They have a whole bunch of variety, and I have not been disappointed with anything that I have ordered there. Really cannot go wrong with the Everest. ALL MEAT! =) Besides pizza they have really good sandwiches too. This location was the first that I have been to, but since then they have opened 2 locations in the Sacramento area.

I, like many, have a New York pizza obsession, and even though I'm not from New York, after knowing that incredible delight I think this pizza sucks. I mean it's not gross or anything, but it's definitely not good. The reason I give it a 3 is because I am OBSESSED with the extremely twisted sticks. They are so good that I get multiple orders of them delivered with no pizza. Plus I think the people that work there are all pretty nice, and I like the online ordering system. Still, I have tried a lot of the regular menu pizzas before I decided to go only cheese sticks, and they stink.

been here once, and once at the union location. ordered some weird name production, the "414" something. got two slices of fantastic pizza and a sprite for 6 bucks. new year's morning, 11:30, sat outside. freakin delicious. afterwards, u should walk a few blocks up to that "fillmore hardware" store for their tin box of bullet mints...

More like EXTREME(ly expensive) Pizza or EXTREME(ly overrated) Pizza, I gave up on these folks long ago. On a recent late-night drink-and-snack attack, however, I was forced to give these big shots another chance. And guess what?!?! They came at me with a winner! I think I found the only hot deal on their menu! Ssssh! Don't tell! They're likely to raise the price! The Pipe Calzone. For $6.95, the small is large enough for two and the larger one is only a few dollars more! I added a few things and got a salad and a soda- a whole meal plus leftovers for under $20 at Extreme (ripoff)?!?!? Did I mention it's delicious and crispy and the crust is light and crunchy? Did I forget to tell you they fill in the corners, leaving even the farthest calzone-y reaches cheesey and sauced up? Did I tell you that I ate every last bite before swearing up and down that tomorrow would be a new day and I wouldn't blow my diet again? I'll definitely be back for more calzone (and self-loathing).

Perf after a movie when you're on a budget. Me and my gf went to the Kabuki Sundance, then got a huge wobb salad and each a slice of pesto artichoke pizza. An easy walk from the theater, and we had food to take home. Yum, yum, yum.

My girlfriend from Utah was in town, and had a hankering for pizza. So, we stopped in for a pie. We ordered a medium cheese pizza, which came out fresh from the oven. Pretty good pizza, but nothing to write home about. I was unimpressed with the "atmosphere." The place was totally empty, however, the tables were all kinda dirty. Our table had like 3 napkins in the dispenser. You grab utensils next to a tub where the dirty dishes go, and this kind of grossed me out. Also, there was like 1 fork in the thingy. To sum it up, I wished we had eaten at Dino's.

I'm not really into the "extreme" name choice. But after a few yummy slices, who cares. I've eaten here a few times (not delivery) and it was good stuff. Seating area is limited. More for just dropping in if you happen to be strolling in the neighborhood. Oh and make sure the hot pepper shaker lid is screwed on tight; my friend went to sprinkle a few on his slice and he emptied the entire jar. Talk about an extremely hot slice (sorry, i had to go there :-P)!

Great pie delivered. Not your Italian mother's traditional style either. I've never had pizza from NY so I don't know what I'm missing. I just know what I like. BBQ pork or chicken on pizza with cheese and onions is the bomb.

I ordered from here two nights ago, wanting to give a new place a try. Other than the tomato sauce on the pizza being quite bland, everything else was rockin. Easy ordering, fast and friendly service, plus tasty food at that. Yeah, I've had better pizza, but this was pretty darn good and, for variety, I'll likely order from here again.

I went with friends to the Extreme Pizza on Fillmore and we had very mixed experiences. The one who had the large salad dinner liked it a lot. I had the vegetarian sub and hated the bread (gooey and tasteless) and cheese but liked the sun-dried tomatoes. The pizza lover was disappointed. The pizza market is too competitive to waste money at this place. Unless you want an $8 salad. However, after we ate there, we went around the corner to Japantown and found a gelato place on the second floor of the first building up from the Kabuki Theaters. It's Sophie's Crepes. Not only was the gelato delicious but they also put ice cream in waffles--really good. So, take my advice, skip Extreme Pizza and go directly to Sophie's Crepes in Japantown.

On a Monday night I ordered a Green With Envy with italian sausage. One hour after I ordered I received a plain sausage pizza. Unfortunately the delivery guy had already left so I called them. I was on hold for 30 minutes!!! I couldn't believe how long it took to get someone on the phone. They offered to send out a new pizza, but by that point (1.5 hours after ordering) I was so hungry I was eating the lukewarm disappointment that was sitting in front of me. They said they would void the charge on my card, and after I asked for a little more compensation, they said that they would send me something in the mail (I'll get it within two weeks.) I'll hold my breath...

There's nothing specifically NOT to like about Extreme Pizza. No, the "X" gimmick is not exactly the new black, but the pizza is serviceable. Now, I may not be the most impartial judge. As an East-coast transplant, I will probably always have the curse of finding most pizza in the city overpriced and sub-par. But this is much better pizza than, for instance, Amici's, to name a major competitor. Even when it does try a bit too hard to be different. Let's be honest, slather your large pepperoni and mushrooms with enough ranch dressing, and you'll be where you want to be.

As far as the quick, take out pizza places go, Extreme Pizza tops them all. When I am considering take out from a place like Dominoes, Pizza Hut or Roundtable because I am too lazy to cook some Top Rhamen. I will always go for Extreme Pizza. The Fillmore location is the best because you can actually park in the back, compared to the Union St. location which is easily accesible on Sunday mornings at 8am! Usually an order of two slices will fill the heartiest appetitie. Skip the little 8" personal pie. And go for either two fat cheese slices or one of their combos. Their combos rock, and this place has some good vegetarian options. The calzones are not that great, hard to cut and to akward to pick up. Seating is limited and there is more outside seating but SF is not known for its weather. Staff at the Fillmore is friendly and the service is better than some five-star eateris. Plus the on-tap beer is cheap-ish!

The pizza isn't great, but there's worse to be had in this town. I will actually eat this pie, even sober! The staff are fairly pleasant and they have the cute snowboard table out front, which is nice on those warm evenings when you want to people watch without being up on that gnarly part of the Fillmo.

Their pizza is only so-so and yet they think they can charge those prices (PS- you are no where near decent pizza let alone worth that much!) and as Charlotte C. notes in a previous review, the staff at this particular location sux. I will never eat in another Extreme Pizza ever again and you should not either. The Filmore staff on 6/22 had the worst customer service of any place I have ever eaten at in my life.

So, I love the pizza. But, the delivery and service sucks! I had a coupon for a free pizza with 10 dollar minimum. Order the 10 bucks worth of extras, enter the coupon code....delivery guy arrives....forgot to account for coupon....calls his boss who tells me that the minimum is at least 15, but I have the coupon that says 10. Delivery guy then pretends to not speak English so that he can't confirm the coupon saying $10 minimum.....I told them to take the order away and now we are waiting for a new place to bring us pizza. Really annoying.

don't order the salads, they are gritty and sandy like the lettuce isn't properly washed. i pointed this out to a worker when i returned it and he said "yea, we've had that complaint before we don't know what it is". i recommend stelladoro on divisadero instead..MUCH faster delivery, better all around pizza.

Hey there little dudes, I like totally went into Extreme Pizza with mega dilated pupils from an eye exam so I was like, whoa, can't read the menu dude, help me out. Dude was like, there's the specials, I was like sweet, I'll take the 8 inch pie (it had some radical name but since my pupils were so dilated I totally forget now, I know bogus, sorry) Anyways, the dude serves it and I'm like where's my included soda and salad? He's like oh, you wanted the lunch special? I'm like yeah dude, didn't we just talk about it and I like totally pointed at it because it's all blurry man. Dude gives out way big sigh because he has to void my order, give me my money back, and re-order. Major inconvenience. But I'm like, ka-ching, dude paid me to eat here, but then I had to give back more money because of the salad and soda. Whatever. Salad was pretty fresh, nothing too Extreme though, pizza showed up quick so I'm like bonus but then there was grease running across the top like a wet sidewalk. Dude I'm serious. My pupils tried to contract but they couldn't so I like totally ate blurry pizza. Not bad, not Extreme, although technically dudes, it was Extreme. Trippy. Anyways, this place doesn't hold a candle to Little Star 's mega quasar glow so unless I've got hella munchies on Fillmore I won't be back.

This place has fast service but they have one problem. These people seem to dislike pepperoni. I ordered a pizza from here twice, and they messed up my order twice! And the second time was even worse.....they forgot to put the pepperoni on my pizza!!!!!!

The name of the store first draws you in from the street...you think oooo Extreme Pizza? that must mean that this pizza is different and uniquely delicious. However, after trying this place once, and then trying it a second time by giving the pizza chain the benefit of the doubt that I just chose the wrong thing...I've come to the conclusion that Extreme Pizza's only means of differentiation is its attempts to appeal to a younger, unconforming crowd by naming the store, "extreme". A pizza described as a concoction of mozarella cheese, whole sliced tomatoes, basil, and garlic, seems like the ultimate pizza. But after the first couple of bites, you soon discover that too many toppings kill the classic taste of a pizza's cheezy charm. Not only were the toppings overkill, but the pizzas I bought the two times I went there, took over 15 minutes to prepare. NOT recommended

its friday night at 10 and their online locals only coupon for buy one large pizza and large salad, get one pizza free, looked too good to be true, but i gave it a try because my old man loves greasy meat, and i only like mushrooms and olives. i ordered a large railroad grade for my man, which is pepperoni, sausage, onions and mushroom. for the salad i ordered a large backyard betty which is spinach, red onion, walnut, bacon, and crumble cheese(my husband LOVES bacon). For the free za option i went humble and just ordered a small cheese with ricotta and mushroom. I am grateful for the free stuff so i did not want to go overboard. the order was delivered super speedy style. and here is where the 5 stars come through. the salad was fresh and yummy and they gave us bonus dressings, either way it was all quality the crusts on the pizzas were crunchy, not soggy, not super doughy, just right for old fashion american pizza. i like the sauce just fine, and both the pizzas were huge! i just wasn't expecting such a gigantic delicious freebie. also, there was a gigantic cookie in there too! whew, i feel satiated, and special. I have ordered delivery from them before and they have always been fine. it was tough get over the name and the fact that there are a lot of local places that i should support first, but i am glad i gave them a try.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
